what a great article. I said something similar yesterday. Is Graham the right person to stand up to DC or is she simply a puppet being endorsed by Trump? Lets hope she answers some questions above. State government work is different than DC. Will she stand up when needed or will she cave? Great that she has had leadership roles but she has never worked in politics.

I kind of wish Mr. White had bothered to do just that before I wasted 3 minutes reading this nothing burger of a story.
He is Correct! No Track Record and She has NOT Stated Her Position on ANYTHING Important! I did NOT Vote for her. I would have Liked to Seen a Run-Off Between Sanford and Fry!!
We need someone to represent SC. Not be a pawn to powerful national interest. Ie MONEY
Reality check, Joey. It does not matter. It does not matter because any one of the candidates from the Hee Haw caucus running for senator will do exactly what Dear Leader wants them to do. They are interchangeable sycophants.
We are in agreement, Nanker! With a couple of exceptions, one of which I voted for yesterday and who may not have cleared 1% of the votes cast, this whole clown show has been about telling us “I can suck Trump’s d-ck better than the others can.” That is exactly what I will be voting against. I bet Darline has the upper hand on that qualification as no doubt, Lindsey told her stories about what The Donald likes and doesn’t like. Norman does not impress me and while he will be a Trump puppet, he will likely be slightly less enthusiastic than Darline.
U.S. Senator Darline Graham Nordone should be elected, or not elected, on 25 August 2026 and 3 November 2026, to a six-year term in the U.S. Senate, God so willing, to work for the good of the nation as a whole, in general, and for ALL the inhabitants of South Carolina, in particular, NOT to please a self-righteous fringe, and often-proven shockingly hypocritical, minority of Republican state legislators or U.S. Congress members who bombastically call themselves “the freedom caucus.”
Freedom from what?
Freedom for what?
Are the legislators not members of the freedom caucus somehow a slavery caucus or what?
All right, the junior U.S. Senator from South Carolina is hounded on her position on the death penalty.
Why is she required to be for it (if she is for it)?
If her conscience dictates that being pro-life means opposition to the death penalty, why should she be denied votes?
A substantial segment of South Carolina’s population is Catholic; and the Catholic Church now declares opposition to the death penalty to be a core Catholic belief.
And why does what U.S. Senator Darline believe about the death penalty TODAY matter anyway?
There is no proposed legislation PENDING before the U.S. Congress to abolish the death penalty in the U.S. And even if one were to be soon introduced, all voters need to know is that their representatives will consult their consciences and the facts before them on the success or failure of the death penalty before casting a voting.
So, South Carolina’s Commission for the Blind’s budget doubled during the seven years Ms. Darline headed it.
WHY IS THAT necessarily BAD?
It could be that said Commission had been under-funded and Ms. Darline successfully got for the blind and disabled much-needed funds.
Joe White and Ralph Norman got something against the blind and the disabled?
But I have question for Ms. Darline which goes into her responsibilities as a U.S. Senator.
Heck! That question should also be posed to Ralph Norman.
Should a FEDERAL Justice, Judge, and/or Magistrate Judge sit on a case where one the parties is by blood the first-cousin to that jurist?
You may be surprised to know that the U.S. may be the only county in the world which legalizes such nepotism in its court system.
And if either Republican aspiring candidate (and the competitor independent candidates and candidates of other parties) think(s) that does not pass the smell test, does the candidate intend to introduce legislation to fix the issue?
I have other questions relevant to being a U.S. Senator; but let’s start with this one because a U.S. Senator suggest to the President, and votes on, federal judges and justices.
Hatred of immigrants and love of money should not the main, or only, qualifications to be elected for office in or from South Carolina.
Take health issues.
As a woman, does Senator Darline and/or Dr. Annie Andrews plan to introduce legislation to lift the barriers against breast-feeding in the work place, in educational establishments, in public transportation, etc.?
One of the best kept secrets is that breast-feeding reduces the risk of breast cancer in the mother in addition to its many other benefits for the mother and for the baby.
Can there be a federal tax credit for breast-feeding equipment and/or free beast pumps?
Can there be mandatory work/education breaks for breast-feeding analogous to the Family Leave Act?
These are just ideas more important than whether the aspiring U.S. Senator passes a “Freedom Caucus'” fancy.
And analogous to RIFRA, can there be legislation to enable parturient inmates (these are not rare) to breastfeed in prison?
The babies have committed no crime to be denied the mother’s milk even if the mother were a convict.
Should there be decency legislation prohibiting evictions in extremes of temperatures, say above 88 or below 25 Fahrenheit?
Muscularity is sometimes toxic; and when not tempered with decency, can be counter-productive.
I wish there were a “Decency Caucus” of federal and state legislators. And I hope the new U.S. Senator from South Carolina starts one.
