OMG – What else can go awry in this budget/election cycle !?!?!
100%. Main and Gervais is the most corrupt place in the state. Problem is most citizens don’t care and wont call out their reps and senators. Until they do and stop electing rinos and good ole boys nothing will change and the GA will continue to treat citizens as their own personal ATM. And if your guys call himself a conservative and votes yes to these budgets call him or her a liar.
Criticism of the earmarks in this piece is warranted. The $320 million included by the House is too much, and how those items got into the budget is more troubling than the amount. Every one of them appeared for the first time in the House’s second version of the bill, which meant no senator outside the three budget conferees had any opportunity to review, question, or amend them. That is not a process that earns the public’s confidence.
The argument that placing spending in a joint resolution strips the Governor of his line-item veto, however, is without merit. Capital Reserve Fund money is appropriated every year by joint resolution, and governors line-item veto those resolutions as a matter of course. The General Assembly itself treats those vetoes as item vetoes, overriding some and sustaining others. Whatever is wrong with how these earmarks were handled, the Governor’s veto pen is not what’s missing.

So I would assume you voted “NO” to the budget as written. If not then you are just as much part of the problem as the rest. Citizens and taxpayers are truly sick of being fleeced by state govt. Backing up your words by voting no to these irresponsible and wasteful budgets is the ONLY option regardless of how much good is in the budget. Simple analogy, If I bake you a chocolate cake and put just a tiny bit of dog turd in it, would you still partake? You will never taste it or know it’s in there. Same with the budget. There is garbage in it that should cause a TRUE representative of the people to reject it as a whole. Time to decide what side you are on, as well as your colleagues. We are sick and tired of the BS from elected officials. You work for us.
