The Democratic ticket is much stronger without him, so Republicans better hope he doesn’t step down.
It will be a relatively close win for the Republicans right now. If KaMAMAla becomes the option, it will be a Republican landslide and the House and Senate go with it.
Anyone else and it’s somewhere in between as party infighting takes over. Democrats are great at unity against a Republican, and they suck at it within their own party

He steps down, they have to put Kackles up or lose the 95% of the black vote and 50% of the women vote.
They can’t put up a Newsome/Kackles ticket because they’re both from Kalifornia, and they’d have to give up those electoral votes.
Who is is there? Rumors of Mark Kelly, which is just stupid because he’d have to drag around his vegetable wife around and a Kelly/Kackles ticket would go nowhere.
They have nobody to put up and keep Kackles on the ticket and have a chance in hell of winning. They’re best option is to punt and start working on 2028 and putting Newsome up against Vance. Newsome has a lot of work to do in Kalifornia before Democrats would promote that mess he’s built as governor.
Why wasn’t Joe wearing a mask as he was leaving on AF1 if he tested positive for COVID? This was all a cover to give him an excuse to back out. He even said he’d consider leaving if it were a medical issue… 2-3 days later he’s diagnosed with COVID.
