What began as a bank robbery in Georgetown County, South Carolina ended with an officer-involved shooting in neighboring Charleston County.
It was the second shooting of the day involving law enforcement officers in the Palmetto State. Earlier on Friday, a deputy of the Colleton County sheriff’s office discharged her weapon and fatally wounded a suspect during an attempted burglary.
In this incident, suspect Richard Edward Inman of Laurens, S.C. entered a Bank of America branch located at 10267 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island, S.C. and passed a note to a teller demanding money.
The teller gave Inman (below) an undisclosed amount of cash.

Deputies of the Georgetown County sheriff’s office pursued Inman into Charleston County – where he was wounded at around 7:30 p.m. EDT during a shooting that took place following a traffic stop near McClellanville, S.C.
According to our sources, two white male officers – one from Georgetown County and one with the Charleston County sheriff’s office – fired during the traffic stop.
There is no word yet on the condition of Inman – who was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston.
Law enforcement officers and emergency responders shut down parts of U.S. Route 17 near McClellanville in connection with the pursuit.
Agents of the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) – who handle the vast majority of officer-involved shooting investigations in the Palmetto State – were reportedly en route to the scene.
