TALK ABOUT GETTING THROWN IN THE DEEP END OF THE POOL …
United States ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley will make her debut before the global government’s security council this week.
An emergency meeting of this chamber has been called in the aftermath of the Islamic Republic of Iran testing an intermediate-range missile in direct defiance of UN sanctions.
According to Fox News, Iran tested a Khorramshahr medium-range ballistic missile on Sunday from a launch facility located 140 miles east of Tehran.
How will Haley handle herself on the international stage? Who knows … but as we’ve pointed out in the past, she is all sorts of conflicted when it comes to Iran.
Let’s be honest, though … it would be incredibly hard for the United States to do any worse when it comes to its dealings with Iran. Seriously … cash for hostages? That was the policy of the administration of Barack Obama – which also concluded a widely-pilloried agreement over the Islamic regime’s nuclear weapons program.
Of interest? Obama’s Iran deal only passed thanks to the efforts of ethically-challenged U.S. Senator Bob Corker – who happens to be the chairman of the committee that approved Haley as America’s UN ambassador.
Hmmm …
For those of you keeping score at home, the UN’s security council is comprised of fifteen member nations – five of them permanent (the United States, China, France, Russia and Great Britain) and ten of them selected to two-year rotating terms.
The UN issued an eight-year ban on Iranian missile testing back in July 2015 via this resolution. This is the second time the Islamic regime has violated that resolution.
