FORMER CLEMSON QUARTERBACK CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AND BATTERY …
Former Clemson University quarterback Tajh Boyd was arrested this week and charged with assault and battery, according to WYFF TV 4 (NBC – Greenville, Spartanburg, S.C.).
Too much Labor Day partying?
Apparently not. According to police, Boyd’s arrest stems from a July 14 incident at a bar called On The Roxx – located on South Main Street in downtown Greenville.
Specifically, Boyd is accused of shoving a doorman at the facility who refused to grant him entry to the club – which was said to have been over capacity at the time.
Upset over being denied access, Boyd is accused of shoving the doorman – knocking him over and sending him flying into another woman, who also fell to the ground.
Boyd was allowed to turn himself in and was released on bond.

Boyd had a standout career at Clemson – setting Atlantic Coast Conference records for career passing yardage (11,904) and touchdown passes (107). He also ran for 1,165 yards and twenty-six touchdowns.
In his final collegiate game against Ohio State in the 2014 Orange Bowl, he completed 31 of 40 passes for 378 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for 127 yards and another score.
Boyd was 32-8 as Clemson’s starting quarterback – although he posted a 0-3 record against the Tigers’ arch-rivals at the University of South Carolina.
The 6-foot-1, 224-pound signal caller from Hampton, Virginia was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL draft by the New York Jets – but failed to make the team. He was signed as a free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers the following year, but didn’t make their regular season roster either.
Two Canadian Football League (CFL) teams have also signed and released Boyd – most recently the Montreal Alouettes.
