True Story: More than a few years back I had a sweetheart from Hartford, Conn who was living in Columbia. She wanted to go to the big hot air balloon festival. She was a women’s libber and belonged to NOW. We couldn’t find the road cut-off so we stopped at a gas station for directions. They guy told us to turn around, go back to a road, turn right, and go to the “nigger church” and keep right. Perfect directions so when we got to the festival she told me she resented the guy using the term “nigger”, and she asked me how I knew which church to turn at. I told her that I read the pastor’s name on the big sign in front of the church.
I’m not sure if I should laugh or be ashamed that I get it…
