Quite possibly one of the most dubious “honors” ever.
Based on who we know is running at his point, Wilson may well be the best choice based on experience and temperament, but this isn’t the best field we’ve ever had.
He is absolutely NOT the best choice. He’s a RINO who acquiesces to the whims of his legislative masters. How soon everyone forgets when his political backers were embroiled in a criminal investigation in which several were charged and Wilson tried to keep the investigation under wraps until he was forced to appoint an outside prosecutor. When that prosecutor tried to follow the money Wilson abruptly pulled his appointment saying he didn’t have the authority to investigate any further. The prosecutor and sled chief both pushed back against Wilson because they knew more corruption existed. One of those sheriff’s supporting his candidacy has supposedly been promised the sled chiefs job if Wilson is elected
Also let’s not forget the number of South Carolina sheriffs who have been arrested and removed by SLED in the last several years.
