GAMECOCK LINEBACKER HONORED BY SEC

|| By FITSNEWS || University of South Carolina linebacker Skai Moore was named the Southeastern Conference (SEC)’s defensive player of the week after recording ten tackles and a pair of end zone interceptions in the Gamecocks’ season opening win over North Carolina last week.

Moore’s second interception of the game (and the ninth of his career) came on a fourth-and-eight play with less than three minutes to go in the game – preserving a 17-14 Gamecock victory.

A 6-foot-2, 218-pound junior from Cooper City, Florida (University High School), Moore was the Gamecocks leading tackler in 2014 with 93 total stops.  He also led the team in total tackles in 2013 with 56 stops.

South Carolina opens its SEC slate against Kentucky on Saturday evening (September 12) at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT and the game will be televised nationally on the SEC Network – with Brent Musburger, Jesse Palmer and Maria Taylor calling the action.

Given the Gamecock’s upcoming schedule, they need to pull some more Moore’s out of the bag for their defense.
