D.J. READER LEAVES TIGERS’ PROGRAM DUE TO “PERSONAL ISSUES”
|| By FITSNEWS || Two weeks after defensive back Korin Wiggins was lost for the season due to an injury, Clemson University’s football team has announced defensive tackle D.J. Reader‘s decision to “step away from football” for an undetermined period of time.
The reason? Undisclosed “personal issues.”
Reader – a 6-foot-3, 325-pound senior from Greensboro, N.C. – has played in 38 games for the Tigers during his career. Over that time he’s recorded 110 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.
“D.J. Reader has decided to step away from football for a while,” head coach Dabo Swinney said. “He has some personal issues he has to deal with at this time. We are not sure when he will return. We will support him any way we can. This is no different than a player being lost for a period of time due to injury.”
Reader was expected to be an important contributor on a defense that lost multiple stars from last season – including two players chosen in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft (defensive end Vic Beasley and linebacker Stephone Anthony). Clemson – which boasted the nation’s No. 1 defense in 2014 – also lost tackles Grady Jarrett, Josh Watson and DeShawn Williams.
“We will move forward at the tackle position,” Swinney said. “We have many players who will do an outstanding job in the defensive line.”
Swinney’s Tigers are preseason favorites to win the Atlantic Coast Conference – and are ranked No. 12 in both the Amway Coaches‘ and AP Top 25 preseason rankings.
They open their 2015 campaign on September 5 at home against Wofford.

I am talking about all schools with ACC ties now that actually have what you like to claim you have. Real history and multiple Championships as in National ones. For the record (not that its any of your business) I graduated from FSU the same year we won our 6th consecutive ACC title. 1997. Why was it only the 6th? We were only in the conference for 6 years at that time. Now we have more than you (in just 25 years), and you still think you are the best in the ACC history. Funny because history is what you became when we joined.

I graduated Clemson in 92 and struggled through the last 20 years of ups and downs in the Clemson football program. I was there for the punt-rooskie debacle and went to Tally for our revenge the next year. We had an administration that tried to kill football at Clemson in order to up the academic reputation and get rid of anything associated with coach Ford…they did a pretty good job too. Hatfield and West did their best to destroy what we had going at that time. Coach Bowden turned us back in an upward direction and Coach Swinney seems to be pushing us farther up every year. That’s about all you’ll hear from us…we are getting there but not there yet.
FSU can thank the CU administration for those titles.

Nancy Mace was the techno brains behind the web site. She had a simple system whereby you used a unique icon or symbol that was tied to your screen name that could not be used by others. They might use your screen name but it would not post with the corresponding icon or symbol so it was obvious they were fake. I have no idea why Folks went to some outfit (Disqus) which wants you to give them info to be “registered”. Very odd that so called Libertarian Folks, who thinks he is being spied upon by Big Brother, advocates a system that makes it easier for an entity to do just that.
