As I understand it, the young lady who was murdered had been taken in by the Barnes boy. Prior to meeting him, at 19 years of age, she paid for her own phone but her parents made her give them her access codes to the phone. If accurate, this is a very unhealthy form of helicopter parenting. No wonder she was easy prey for the Barnes boy. Parents, chances are good that your children will rebel and seek to get away from this kind of invasive “parenting” at their first opportunity, whether that opportunity is good or bad.

I understand that the psychology of abuse can keep someone in a relationship that those of us on the outside think they should walk away from. What I don’t understand is what attracts not one, not two, but three young ladies to someone who is one of the biggest LOSERS you can possibly imagine. He doesn’t strike me as being physically attractive. He either had no job or a crappy job. No home. No transportation. What was this guy bringing to the table?
