I lost respect for Stavrinakis when he was chairman of county council. He was riding point promoting a proposed tax increase for roads. After the tax was debated and finally passed, he used the money to provide a local match for the I-526 expansion boondoggle. Even worse, he claims that he informed the voters this was always the plan. Plenty of people, including myself, went back and looked at the statements he made at county council, at the League of Women Voters event, and to the press. There was never a single mention of using the tax increase to push along this boondoggle.
I’ll never vote for him even though I’ve met him and his family, and they seem like nice people.

Well shit! So much for thinking he might be a decent candidate. Time was, The Chamber Of Commerce was synonymous with good business practice, honesty, and things like that. Nowadays they are synonymous with something quite opposite of those things and finding excuses to raise your taxes.
