HOLY CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE ANNOUNCES FUNDRAISING TOTALS

|| By FITSNEWS || Charleston, S.C. mayoral candidate Ginny Deerin raised $215,000 during the first three months of 2015 – and has $188,000 on hand as she ramps up her bid to lead the Holy City.  Not a bad chunk of change for a local race.  Deerin also boasted 522 individual donors – nearly two-thirds of whom are women.

“Ginny is grateful over 500 people stepped forward to donate in a short period of time, but we’re just getting started,” Deerin’s campaign manager said in a statement. “Ginny has spent the last 40 years getting things done for Charleston. She founded and ran a multimillion-dollar organization that was named one of the best-managed nonprofits in South Carolina, and she later started her own small business here. Ginny’s deep understanding of the city and her management chops will enable her to help make Charleston an even greater city as Mayor.”

Deerin – who ran the final mayoral campaign of forty-year incumbent Joe Riley – has yet to file her official report with the S.C. State Ethics Commission (SCSEC), but she has vowed to disclose all donations (not just those over $100, as required by state law).

Also seeking this post?  S.C. Rep. Leon Stavrinakis – a fifth-term state lawmaker who brands himself as a “centrist.”  Wealthy Charleston businessmen John Tecklenburg is also running – as are city councilman William Dudley Gregorie and former city councilman Paul Tinkler.

No word yet on how much money any of those candidates raised during the first quarter …

Still visit the Holy City – all indications are that Ms. Deerin is outdistancing all other candidates

Will be interesting in seeing who is backing her financially

I’ll bet the donor base is as thick in Lesbo’s as a Columbia Quad Squad roller derby event.

She is a rich lady tagging her rich friends for money. Liberal democrats often raise tons of money. They all seem to be rich.

Yeah lots of poor Republicans.

Throw the blacks (that are treated like chattel and tolerated only for their votes) out of the Dem party and you are left with rich folks and professionals sucking on the tit of big government.

The GOP is full of middle and upper middle call people that work.

Got my doubts... April 3, 2015 at 3:18 pm

She’s been living on Sullivans (“millionaires only”) Island for the past 22 years, and — get this — moved to a RENTED APARTMENT in West Ashley nine months ago. She’s nice but not an “average Jane.” Her answers at the first debate at the Jewish Community Center were full of generalities and no particulars. She’s never served in ANY political office, much less operated an organization with a $125 million annual budget.

Wrong. She moved from Sullivans Island to West-Ashley in January 2015.
