GAMBLING LOBBY WANTS NEW U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL TO CARRY BIG STICK
|| By FITSNEWS || Organized gambling is pushing “Republican” and Democrat leaders in the U.S. Senate to “crack down on illegal gambling activities” in the United States. In a letter addressed to U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley and Patrick Leahy, the CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA) urged lawmakers to bear the issue in mind as they consider the nomination of Loretta Lynch as the next U.S. attorney general.
“We urge you to ensure that the next attorney general takes seriously the problem of illegal gambling across the country,” the AGA letter to Grassley and Leahy read. “Illegal gambling operations attract illicit activities, such as money laundering and other serious crimes, while siphoning critical tax revenues from state and local governments across the country.”
Hmmmmm …
According to the AGA, an estimated $3.8 billion in illegal bets will be placed on Super Bowl XLIX – which far exceeds the money that will be bet legally on the game.
Frankly, we don’t see that as a problem …
Until governments (federal, state and local) can be trusted to fairly tax and wisely spend, we have no problem with citizens keeping the majority of their wagers “off-line” – same with their recreational drug purchases (and other, um, illicit economic activity).
Don’t get us wrong: This website supports breaking up government-run gambling monopolies (like the one existing here in South Carolina), but we don’t believe politicians serving narrow gambling interests is an acceptable substitute. Anyway … let’s just say placing off-line bets is another way this website urges civil disobedience.
Oh, and if you’re picking the New England Patriots over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks this weekend … make sure you’ve taken into account the proper inflation of each team’s balls.

You need to look up the definition of “civil disobedience”. You don’t sneak arround and violate the law and avoid the consequences. You openly profess that you are violating the law and usually submit to prosecution.
