DEATH TOLL IN TERROR ATTACK EXPECTED TO RISE …
“You can’t get killed where you ain’t …”
That wisdom comes to mind today as news reports from Afghanistan – where U.S. troops are still inexplicably fighting a rearguard action in the “War on Terror” – indicate a two-star American general has been shot and killed by a lone terrorist gunman.
The attack – which wounded numerous other U.S. military personnel as well as three Afghan officers – occurred at the Afghanistan National Military Academy outside of Kabul. Early reports indicate the shooter – presumed to be a supporter of the Taliban – was clad in an Afghan army uniform.
Such attacks are nothing new … shooters wearing Afghan army garb have killed dozens of coalition soldiers over the years. Of course the slaying of an American general is a big deal as it hasn’t happened since the Vietnam War.
Afghan president Hamid Karzai condemned the attack and placed the blame on “enemies who don’t want to see Afghanistan have strong institutions.”
U.S. president Barack Obama has been trying to get Karzai to sign a new “bilateral security agreement” enabling U.S. troops to remain in the country beyond 2014 – but so far Karzai has refused.
More than 2,340 American troops have been killed in Afghanistan since the United States launched “Operation Enduring Freedom” in 2001. The vast majority of those deaths occurred from 2009-12 – when 1,544 American troops were killed as the administration of Barack Obama pursued what it called the “right war.”
You know … as opposed to the “wrong war” in Iraq.
Both are wrong as far as we’re concerned. Not to mention way too expensive. A recent report from Harvard University speculated that the long-term costs of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could top $6 trillion when it’s all said and done – a huge sum that achieved absolutely nothing of lasting value.
And of course we all know what happens to American soldiers once the U.S. “war gods” have used them up …

This blood is on Obama’s hands. I wonder if PBS will hold a coffin-counting vigil, since Afghanistan is the war Obama said he loves? They did it w/ Bush and Iraq.
So far the media has not been interested in the bloody Afghanistan War. But for six years, it has only produced more bodies w/ Obama’s poor handling.
He and Kerry will blame Israel.
My, how quick the neocons turn on their own war once a Republican is no longer in the White House.
I understood the argument Hillary and Kerry made for going to Iraq. And I don’t think Obama was wrong in expressing the need to flush out the terrorists in Afghanistan, when Obama supported it. It’s less costly – in lives and resources – to squelch small cells, than it is to let them get strong and wage war on our soil. Clinton’s neglect and oblivion taught us that w/ 9-11.
It’s the absolute failure in execution by Obama and the democrats that I am sickened by. You have killed more Americans than the enemy, w/ your media signaling of operations, and bumbling. When you fail at government, it’s freedom that suffers. When you F*#k up in wars that you embraced…you KILL our soldiers. For that you are more Filthy and corrupt than Nixon or Clinton combined.

Al Capone Jr.: These actions by our affiliates are getting way out of hand. I have reviewed the tactics my dad used and he made some very stupid mistakes. I am not going to tolerate this type of indiscriminate killing. It is bad for business.
Little Nikki: Yeah, but they leave us very little choice. The whole WAR on Drugs is such political Folly. You can’t stop stupid people from getting addicted and you certainly can not stop a farmer from growing a crop..!? …..and yet we get fingered for just being a middleman. Heck, even Coca Cola is getting pinched for being a middle man for the SUGAR Barons and Diesel Fuel Gestapo..!!
Al Capone: What is really disgusting to read how this is being reported in the Post and Courier and Fitsnews. Heck, does anyone down in those newsrooms have the guts to get in Mayor Riley’s FAce about Legalization of all forms of illicit contraband so we can establish LEGAL business and pay our fair share of taxes..!? I hate evading taxes….it got my dad..!!
Little Nikki: Well…..at least our army understands why they are getting a gun pointed at them at times. Heck, I always stop and think before I pull a trigger how this person could actually be a CUSTOMER of mine. A dead customer is good to no one. Did this DEAD Taliban ever get told how much American Tourists spend on Vacation and then LEAVE…!? We need to invest in some Taliban “reservations”. Those reservations we have invested in in other Muslim countries are paying off rather modestly with no whacking either..!!
