OUTER BANKS STILL SQUARELY IN STORM’S SIGHTS …

Arthur – the first named tropical system of the 2014 season – officially became a Hurricane on Thursday.

More ominously, its forecast track continued to call for a Fourth of July collision course with North Carolina’s Outer Banks.

Located 300 miles south of Cape Hatteras, Arthur is packing maximum sustained winds of more than 80 miles per hour – as of 8:00 a.m. EDT Thursday.

“Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next twenty-four hours,” the National Weather Service (NWS)’s latest advisory noted.

Hurricane warnings are already in effect for most of the North Carolina coast – from Surf City, N.C. to the state’s northern border with Virginia.  Tropical storm warnings extend further south – to the Santee River in South Carolina.

North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory ordered mandatory evacuations for the barrier islands, and urged residents and tourists not to take the storm too lightly.

“Don’t put your stupid hat on,” McCrory said.

The good news: Shifty Henry is still around us. I saw where he “liked” some comments on another thread, so there is hope we may see him back on here in the near future. Keep your fingers crossed, folks.

The weather men people’s sleeves will be rolled progressively higher and higher as the “storm” approaches .
Their coats have already been shed.
Ties will be loosened for the next update from the NHC at 11AM.
By the 6PM news they will cut off their sleeves and their ties will be around their heads.

It would be nice if Ms. Abrams or some of the cuter weather girls would go braless tank tops in the heavy rain and wind… just to show us how hard it’s blowing.

I would like to take this opportunity to sell you a line of bullshit that this is caused by global warming. I went to DC recently and was thoroughly indoctrinated into the money making religion of Al Gore and our President.

If you buy into this shit, I have some ocean front property in North Dakota I would like to try and sell you too.

I really like the weather updates. The “click to enlarge” graphics are way cool.

The Weather Channel really messed up the morning weather show. Stephanie Abrams and Mike Bettis rocked. Then came along “Morning with Al”. Al Roker horned his way in their morning show. Then Stephanie was lured to NYC! Now we have some bi-metrosexual faking the weather between “Wake up with Al” segments.

Just proof we need a new interstate highway from Myrtle Beach to I-95 for safety.

They don’t Call the Outer Banks “The Graveyard of the Atlantic” for nothing

Been going there since 1974

Seen a lot of changes there in the last 40 years but the National Seashore is still the coolest place on the entire US eastern coastline (well maybe some of Maine’s coast is pretty cool to think of it but in a different way).

Breakfast at “Sam & Omie’s ” can’t be beat!!!!!!!!

Headed that way in September!!!!!
