SOUTH CAROLINA WELFARE CZARINA HAS TO GO … NOW

S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley appointed Lillian Koller to run her welfare agency in 2011 because the national GOP needed a favor.

Now the governor needs to do South Carolina (especially its most vulnerable children) a favor and let Koller go … immediately.

As we’ve noted on numerous prior occasions, Koller’s Department of Social Services (SCDSS) is an unmitigated disaster – with multiple examples of high-level mismanagement affecting hundreds of millions of tax dollars. Koller has been accused of cooking the books related to the agency’s food stamp system and “welfare to work” programs – while prolonging the costly failure of the state’s still-nonexistent child support enforcement database.

She’s also totally dropped the ball on the only salvo fired in Haley’s so-called “war on fat.”

But the latest news – about the tragic and entirely preventable 2013 death of Robert Guilyard, Jr. – should tip the scales against her past the point of no return.

Bottom line? A four-year-old boy is dead because Koller’s agency – on multiple occasions – ignored warnings and evidence provided by family members about abuse he was suffering at the hands of his biological parents (who later beat Guilyard to death).

We reported exclusively on SCDSS’ incompetence in the Guilyard case last July (a week after his brutal murder), but you can read the latest on this tragic situation HERE.

The bureaucratic incompetence in this case is simply incomprehensible … and totally inexcusable. Haley must fire Koller: Before another tax dollar is wasted and before another child dies.

And if she refuses to do so, South Carolina lawmakers must demand Koller’s resignation …

Loose lips sink ships, so Haley will either continue to pay to keep Koller’s shut, or find her a nice cushy job from one of her donators who will do it for her.

Haley only fires competent employees with years of knowledge and experience. The incompetence, inexperienced and wasteful have no fear.
Haley likes people just like herself!
She should have NEVER been elected Governor and the vast majority of her people should have never been hired or appointed!!!!!

This Assachussetts case of Justina Pelletier must make Koller nervous. Publicizing the deadly mistakes made at DSS, capturing the attention of the public and the legislature finally, seems to be the only way to jackhammer assess off seats, in any agency. Unless of course, you are St. Onge or da genrul, who had some sort of motorcycle accident prior to his removal. If Isabella Blanco didn’t get rid of Koller, I don’t know what will. Keep hammering away please.

Haley should just resign.

So Haley is not responsible for the performance of the people she appoints?

If sure she feels that way, but why do you?

The Colonel February 25, 2014 at 1:25 pm

Why don’t we line up the case manager, her supervisor, the office manager of the office she worked in, the district supervisor, the main office supervisor, hell, everybody between the case worker and Haley and have them all shot.

Should Koller be fired maybe – all we have here is Will’s recitation of the facts and we all know how accurate they some times turn out to be.

I agree with the first paragraph.

Case manger was doing what they were told to meet the country and state Goals.. they need to get on TV and tell their side of the story REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS WOULD HAVE. THEIR TAIL DRAGGING.

The Colonel February 26, 2014 at 3:01 am

If John is correct, then lining them up and having them testify would be very interesting – I still don’t think it gets all the way to Haley but you could probably air a lot of laundry out in the process.

It should get to her because she get on every news stations for South Carolina and brag on the Numbers of Case Closure Koller has made within the last two years. Don’t brag on foster care cases because children were return to homes not meeting foster care standards.

real deal February 26, 2014 at 10:41 am

So, because they aren’t directly involved “Colonel”, they shouldn’t be at all held responsible. Are we really going to generalize that much? Koller is certainly involved here! The governor’s office received multiple complaints from DSS caseworkers citing how these children were being shoved back into the abusive, horrific homes they came from. I know this for a fact. But she and Koller get off the hook because they were not the caseworker? Seems not so fair to me! Let’s be real and hold people accountable!

See my earlier post – line em up from caseworker to gubernor and ask the hard questions. However, until we have some facts, all the fire her/him/it and she should resign/quit/be fired is just a bunch of pitchforks and torches with no monster to chase.

I never thought South Carolina could have a bigger grifter than Haley. I stand corrected. This Koller woman needs to resign before one more cent of my tax money goes to subsidize her “illness”.

. . . not to mention the death of some 200 plus children in 2012 while in the “care and custody” of DSS-appointed guardians. I look forward to the subcommittee hearings on this dangerous, rogue state agency.

It does seem like Lillian Kohler is incompetent. That really should be fixed. We need to minimize child deaths while in the custody of the state and Kohler doesn’t seem to care much about that. That really should be fixed. No matter what we do with Fattening Food Stamps.

It’s good not to set the bar too high.

Don’t leave out the USC Center for Child and Family Studies which trains ALL DSS employees on how to do their jobs…follow the money.
Lillian fired the entire DSS Staff Development and Training Division shortly after she was hired and started funneling money to the USC bunch…so that the products of their work could bring about results like this poor child.

Haley’s too busy making up more initiatives like this “DEW” initiative to hire vets which is a complete joke. If DEW would let DEW staff do the jobs theyre supposed to be doing more people would be able to get jobs. Instead they are on a constant search for new initiatives that are pointless. Someone at fitsnews should probably look into seeing what the performance numbers are for the DEW Veteran department about what they’re REALLY doing for Veterans. It’s amazing how little DEW does for Veterans. But if Haley can grand stand about some new initiative that isn’t going to make any changes, then by all means lets waste more tax money on it.

South Carolina governor was given written proof that aiken dss prosecution Dennis Gmerick and the rest of his band of dss child abusers Iincluding a family court judge, did fabricate charges. Kidnapped my son and intentionally arranged for him to be gang beaten. All in the name of sex discrimination. A child damaged forever. My governor has had this proof and constant reminders from me and is still paying this cult to abuse children daily
