Looks like University of South Carolina superstar Jadeveon Clowney wasn’t the only one busted for speeding last weekend.
Clemson University quarterback Tajh Boyd was clocked doing 84 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour zone on Interstate 20 in Kershaw County, S.C. on Friday.
The Tigers’ all-time leading passer was given a warning.
Clowney? He was clocked doing 110 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour zone on Saturday while traveling on Interstate 77 in Fairfield County, S.C. Given that he was traveling more than 25 miles per hour above the posted limit the All-American defensive end could have gone to jail for reckless driving, but instead was issued a $355 citation and told he could either pay the fine or appear in court on January 9.
Boyd was pulled over by a Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputy. Clowney was pulled over by a S.C. Highway Patrolman. It’s not immediately clear what kind of vehicle Boyd was driving – or to whom it belonged. Clowney was driving a Chrysler 300 registered to “Clowney.”
Frankly, we’re surprised Boyd was pulled. Eighty-four miles per hour on the Interstate really isn’t all that fast.
Clowney’s incident strikes us as far more reckless …

84 in a 70? I’ve seen grannies doing that on I-26.
Boyd was really going 111 mph but the patrolman was a Clemson fan and thus let him off with a warning. When asked about the incident, Coach Datboy Swinney said, “The cop should be fired for even bothering him, and that right there is exactly what would have happened here in God’s Country. But you know, there is not a football player in the county who could drive faster than Boyd.”

Clemson just can’t catch a break against USC’s greatness.
