This website has repeatedly opposed S.C. Rep. Nelson Hardwick (RINO-Horry). Dude is nothing but a big government liberal running with an “R” behind his name (not to mention a wino of the first order).

The latest evidence (of his fiscal liberalism)? Hardwick is sponsoring legislation aimed at raising taxes in Horry and Georgetown Counties.

In fact his bill (H. 4357) would quadruple the millage rate earmarked for the Murrell’s Inlet-Garden City Fire District, a creation of the S.C. General Assembly (c. 1966).

What a joke …

Don’t get us wrong: We’re not arguing against putting out fires. The protection of life, liberty and property is clearly a core function of government. We’re simply saying that coastal leaders are willing to blow billions in borrowed money on unnecessary roads but when it comes time to fight fires they have to raise taxes.

How “Republican …”

Also … taxpayers spend several million a year on Horry-Georgetown Technical College, which is part of a bloated higher education system we have repeatedly proposed privatizing.

Of course such a common sense solution would prohibit “Republicans” like Hardwick from telling people that their houses are going to burn down if they don’t quadruple this particular assessment immediately.

Expect this law to sail through … and expect “Tea Party” Gov. Nikki Haley to sign it.

Horry and Georgetown taxpayers? Expect them to continue taking it in the corn hole.

You may bash them, but Haley will get your 2014 endorsement no matter how bad she screws this state.

Only ’cause Ron Paul wasn’t running for SC governor. She was just the tallest midget in the circus.

Funny….if you read the bill wherases, it calls for an additional 5 mills, a doubling. However, the law with strikethroughs shows it going from five to twenty mills, quadrupling it.

What up?

If the people of the fire district are for it, no skin off my nose.

My cousin Nelson has good qualities. I like his efforts to end sex slavery. Honestly, it is quite admirable. Geez, my new meds are good …
