University of South Carolina wide receiver Shaq Roland has been suspended for this week’s game against Central Florida, The Big Spur is reporting.
According to the fan site, Roland did not travel with the team to Orlando this weekend and will miss the game due to … wait for it … an unspecified violation of “athletics department policy.”
Sound familiar? It should. That’s the pat answer given by school officials regarding any suspension.
Roland’s response? He took to Twitter, saying “keep your comments to yourself,” adding the hashtag “#nobodywantstohearit.”
Hmmmm-kay.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound sophomore from Lexington, S.C. – who was Mr. Football in the state of South Carolina in 2011 – has caught eight passes for a team-leading 161 yards (and one touchdown) this year. Expect juniors Bruce Ellington, Nick Jones and Damiere Byrd to see more passes in his absence from Gamecock quarterbacks Connor Shaw and Dylan Thompson.

Instagram is a great thing…..but stupid is stupid.

He turned into a thug and thought he was untouchable in high school. He fits right in at Carolina.

It is time for Roland to grow up, get with the program, or get out. His team depends on him and he consistently falls short of expectations. Why waste the effort on him when he continues to prove he is net making the effort to help himself.
