One of the top deputy directors at South Carolina’s welfare agency has been fired, sources at the troubled agency tell FITS.
S.C. Department of Social Services (SCDSS) director Lillian Koller has dismissed longtime deputy Linda Martin to make room for another one of her “special friends,” we’re told. Not only that, Martin is said to be livid over her unexpected termination – with sources at the agency telling FITS she has no intention of “going gently into that good night.”
What sort of incriminating information does Martin have on her former boss?
Who knows … in her role as assistant deputy director over economic services she had access to all sorts of information, meaning she could conceivably provide new details on any number of scandals. Like the rest of S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s administration, her welfare agency has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster.
Don’t believe us? Read for yourself here, here and here.
Lawmakers know SCDSS is a disaster. In fact they’ve been trying to have it audited for years. If they are serious about getting to the bottom of what’s going on there, we suggest they sit Martin down and find out what she knows …

Sounds like it’s going to be the proverbial cat fight – I hope.
They should be adult about it, mud wrestling.
Not too sure we’d want to witness that…
Why do you think she has “dirt” on Koller?
When you pick up a handful of dirt to throw there’s always some left on your hand.
“Like the rest of S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s administration, her welfare agency has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster.”
Yet at the end of the day FITS will endorse Haley like last time.
What do you mean; “lawmakers have been trying to audit DSS for years?”
Why the hell cant they just order one?
DSS has been audited, per legislative requests, numerous times. The last time was around 2005.
DSS was audited by LAC but guess what. – the person overseeing the audit and findings was a former DSS program audit employee who did not recuse himself from the process and gave the final blessings on the weak findings. God rest his soul T Bardin
