America’s most successful company – and the world’s largest technology firm – will unleash the latest iteration of its most popular mobile device next month.
News of the latest iPhone launch – reportedly scheduled for September 10 – was broken this weekend by The Wall Street Journal‘s technology site, AllThingsD.
There are a flood of rumors out there regarding what the new iPhone will be called – and what it will do – but the only real certainty is that it will run iOS 7, Apple’s new mobile operating system. Beyond that, your guess is as good as anyone else’s.
The most common rumors have Apple launching an iPhone 5s – a smartphone which would represent an incremental upgrade over the iPhone 5, which debuted last September. This iPhone 5s would feature a faster processor and better camera, among other enhancements, but no real groundbreaking advancements.
One interesting rumored addition? A fingerprint sensor on the phone’s home button for added security – which is kind of ironic considering we live in the land of limitless, warrantless domestic spying.
In addition to the new iPhone, a low-cost version of the iconic device could also debut next month – perhaps one featuring a plastic back.
Apple has sold more than 250 million iPhones since the first generation of the device was launched in June 2007. The iPhone 5 sold more than 5 million units the first weekend it was available.

Yawn – the Android market is roughly 36% (and growing) to Apple’s paltry 17%

Still limited to one button.
Don’t get me wrong, it is a decent phone, but for the price tag that comes with it, you’d think they could actually make a significant improvement with their product.
‘Decent’ is about the highest praise you can honestly give it.
Apple improve it products? Yeah, right. That would first entail Apple honestly admitting that their products aren’t the end all be all they are falsely hyped to be.
My iPhone 4 has 4 buttons and a switch.

What cost? How much should it cost? You can get an iPhone 5 for $199 with a two year contract. Android phones are the same price or more. I have used Android phones and IPhones, and I can say if you are a Android user and you have never used an IPhone, you don’t know what you are talking about. IPhones just work better. Especially if you use it for anything besides phone calls, texting, calendar, and contacts. Plus if that is all you need, you can get an IPhone 4s its only $1.00 with a two year contract.

Now you’re shilling for a corporate dinosaur. For shame Will, for shame.
Apple sells over hyped crap that is outdated before it even hits store shelves. Only ignorant elitist that know zip about technology but fall victim to flashy advertising with smartass quips buy Apple’s shit. But hey go ahead and buy your box of shit if that’s what makes you happy. The stench makes you easier to identify so that others know to avoid you.
Got much of a chip on you shoulder there? I’ve never known anyone who felt the need to express anger at people who choose to buy a particular product. Its our money we can buy what we want and you can buy what you want.
Most of us who run a business don’t use half of what technology can do. We just want it to work and be easy to operate . I just think IPhones are more stable, easier to use, and have a larger selection of applications.
I’m not going to judge anyone based on the phone they choose to buy. That seems a little nutty if you ask me, but whatever floats your boat.
