2) Tyson Foods has a distribution center in Benton County, and is headquartered in adjacent Washington County, and actually overlaps into Benton County.

These cargoes move via breakbulk reefer vessels and create hundreds and hundreds of high-paying jobs. The SC State Port Authority owns one such cold storage warehouse — at the Veterans Terminal at the Navy Base — but it is used to process, for domestic consumption, “dry chicken entrails” for cat food. SCSPA’s security guard there says “Everyone in there is paid minimum wage, the smell is overwhelming, and working conditions are unbearably hot, sweaty, bad lighting, and general misery.”
So while the GPA processes high-value frozen chicken for human consumption overseas, the SPA processes dried-out, low-value chicken guts for bagging and sale at your local super market.
My sources say this is all okay with Sen. Tom Davis, by the way, who “doesn’t want to get involved.”

Not sure why Sharia law was brought up.
Sharia law is competition. I’ve talked to several Christian fundamentalists who wish they could make laws based on their beliefs, like making gay sex illegal, banning the consumption of alcohol, limiting what can be put on TV or in movies, etc. Stuff that is already done in Muslim theocracies. They just want to make sure that it is -their- beliefs and -their- god it is done for.
This is why the religious right freaks out at a “Muslim foot-washing station” that turns out to be a fucking mop sink, but complain about being oppressed when they can’t have the Ten Commandments or nativity scenes placed in just about any public area they want. Schools can’t talk about Ramadan without pissing someone off, but they better have a tree come December, and they better call it a Christmas tree! This is why Sharia Law is something we have to fight, but a state religion is A-OK, as long as it is Christianity of course!
