These guys know nothing on the hill. SCDEW is funded by the federal government thru federal grants. They good ole boys cannot tell them how to spend the money. That is the department of labors job. Sounds like the house members need to read some regs or ask one of their smart staff to figure it out next time.

Escforlife…the state of SC also appropriated an additional 4.5 million to SC DEW…You are correct that most of their funds are federal however, these funds were state funds
Staffer, the 4.5 mil in additional funds requested was probably requested through a federal grant that i am sure has certain restrictions other than staffing up locations that dont even use the states services. Grants work differently than state appropriated funds. Grants are applied for and awarded based on certain stipulations. I am sure the layoffs talked about in the news wouldnt have happened if they had 4.5 mil on the way!
