Nikki Haley’s “Other Woman” Hearing Postponed

Eager to avoid the glare of television cameras, a Richland County, S.C. family court judge delayed the preliminary hearing of a divorce case involving S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley.

No official reason for the delay was provided, but a hearing scheduled for last week in the case of Marchant v. Marchant was indefinitely suspended not long after this website broke the story.

“They were spooked by the media calls they were receiving,” a source familiar with the delay tells FITS.

Jennifer Marchant is suing her husband, prominent S.C. State House lobbyist Larry Marchant, for divorce – alleging that he engaged in at least three extramarital affairs over the course of their marriage. One of those “affairs?” Marchant’s one-night-stand with then-S.C. Rep. Nikki Haley in Salt Lake City in 2008.

“On or about June 2, 2010, (Larry Marchant) publicly admitted to having an affair with a woman well-known to the parties and the citizens of the State of South Carolina,” the lawsuit reads. “(Jennifer Marchant) was humiliated and embarrassed by (her husband’s) public admission and was unable to appear in public for some time. Eventually, (Jennifer) conditionally forgave (Larry)’s adulterous behavior.”

Marchant has previously signed a sworn affidavit affirming his version of events – however Haley’s lawyers dismissed it because the affidavit was not offered within the context of a pending trial and (according to them) not subject to the state’s perjury law.

Meanwhile Haley has refused to sign an affidavit in support of her claim that she has been “100 percent faithful” to her husband for the duration of their 17-year marriage.

There has been considerable speculation as to whether Marchant – whose claim of an affair with Haley was broadly ridiculed – will change his story in light of  the potential loss of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

So far he is refusing to comment on the case …

Obviously we’ll let you know as soon as the case is rescheduled.

What’s Haley’s exposure here? Obviously we don’t see any situation in which the governor would be compelled to testify in open court, however she could be forced to answer questions under oath as part of a deposition.

Here’s a prediction. Hayley will never be deposed. In fact, she’ll probably be removed from the case. The wife forgave Marchant and continued or resumed co-habitation with him, so that’s a dead issue. She’ll have to rely on the other two “other women”.

Is there anyone in this state with a backbone, or is being a flagellum part of the criteria for getting a job anywhere in state government?

Oh, yeah. It was also postponed until Jean Toal can decide which judge she wants to hear the case. You heard it here first. The judge will be someone close to Jean and who has previous Democratic party leanings. The situation will be dismissed when this happens as being a coincidence or unavoidable schedule change.

No DOUBT, Toal has specificalyname other judges to hear divorces.
If you are on the wrong side, you will be screwed over!
I have no doubt of Haley’s guilt.
A number of legislators, personally told me of Will Folks and Nikki Haley’s affair years ago around 2006 or 2007.
She was a nobody, why would the make this up. They ALL do it ! She was just another in the club! Answer, it was not made up, it was the truth. Just like when I was told of Lt Gov. Bob Peeler’s affairs, Even heard of Gov. Sanfords, before it came to light and everyone knew of Comptroller General Richard Eckstroms affair, even the students at Kelly Payne’s school.

Do you work in our building? VERY close to the big house with the once green, now brown top? We must have the same sources. And No, Cordell cannot hear cases in Family Court. Only Circuit Court.

“…we don’t see any situation in which the governor would be compelled to testify in open
court…” Incorrect, a subpoena would compel her presence. Not saying that
it would ever come to that but I know of no legal privilege for a governor to
avoid compliance with a valid subpoena.

This is nonsensical. Marchant has admitted the affair in a sworn affidavit. There is no need to depose Gov. Haley because the matter of adultery has been admitted to by Marchant. However, Ms. Marchant kept his butt in the house, after he admitted to it. So whether he did or din’t with the Gov is not the basis of jack shit in this case and can’t be the basis for adultery divorce here. Now, whether he did or didn’t with others after mamma bear took him back in is a whole different story.

Wrong! Haley’s testimony would definitely be relevant and needed unless there is other evidence of the one night stand.

“I bet we agree more then we disagree, but conversation for a different time. tune in at 1030 on Msnbc to see who I do media and communications for.”
This quote is from Facebook and an individual that apparently works for the Elizabeth Colbert Busch campaign.
This individual also has posted on Facebook that “Ray Lewis.Reminding our bright, young youth that you can do anything as long as you can tackle and thank God afterwords” and “do they let murders into the White House even if they are on a Super Bowl team” and “a murderer sets a Super Bowl Ring and the Ravens win on a blown call. The world is right I guess.”
Never knew Ray Lewis was convicted of murder. Wonder if Ray,his attorney and the White House are aware of this false allegation by an individual that is a self-proclaimed “media and communications” guy for Elizabeth Colbert Busch?
Sounds racist to me. Just my opinion.

Not to be picky, but if Mrs. M’s lawyers wanted to make this an issue, they could. If Larry raises condonation as a defense to the adultery claim, because she forgave him and took him back, what she actually “condoned” then becomes an issue. He only admitted to a one night stand. Everyone at the State House knew it was much more than that. Larry is still lying – so is Nikki. He knows this – and will agree to give his ex whatever she wants. This one will never go to trial. Too bad. Looks like Nikki dodges another pair of balls…
