Saw some old film footage of MLK. He referred to those of his race as “Negroes”. I never did see what was wrong with that word, but then we went to African-American, people of color, blacks, etc. If “Negro” was good enough for Martin, it’s good enough for me.

The GOP believes the deficit is the problem. It is not. Jobs and unemployment are the problem. Housing is coming back, construction is coming back, credit card debt is going up, mortgage rates are late, banks and credit unions. The stock market is up. The economy is in good repair mode after the banks and George Bush almost drove us into a Depression.

But while we’re on the subject of guns.. if the founding fathers were wrong about the status of blacks and who should be allowed to vote, couldn’t they have been wrong about the right to bear arms too? Jan: Don’t I know it. I was raised by Republicans. My mother only watches Fox News and has a bumper sticker that says ‘Rush is right’. My dad was career military. When I finally learned how to think for myself and realized how brain-washed GOP followers are, I was sad for them and scared for our country. Thankfully, they are outnumbered now and sanity is slowly seeping into our government/country.

Good points, Rap! I didn’t see any comment in the article about MLK’s main accuser and tormentor during his lifetime…J. Edgar Hoover. The masonic monument in DC has a display dedicated to the cross-dressing, murdering hypocrite and even has his bronzed baby shoes on display. All that’s missing is an eternal flame. Rumor has it that Hoover’s ghost has been spotted pissing on the one over JFK’s grave.

You’re right about the quality thing. I just purchased a couple of Banquet chicken pot pies. Hadn’t had one in many years. They used to be an easy quick, and tasty meal if you were in a rush or didn’t feel like spending an hour in the kitchen.
They were gross beyond description. The quality has definitely slid down to zero.
I also took the family to “California Dreaming” in Charleston (where I live). I ordered a big seafood platter. At $22.95 I figured it had to be decent. What I got were a few little bitty fried imported shrimp, a few gooey oysters, some fried blue crab legs, and a small batch of fries along with a spinach side dish that was absolutely disgusting. WTF? Fried blue crab legs! There had to be less than 50 cents wholesale in the mess that the waiter put on my table. The greedy pigs who run this chain are clueless money wonks. Whatever maximizes their bottom line is A-OK.
Next time I’ll just fry up some dog turds at home. I can do that for a lot less than $22.95 and wind up with a tastier and more nutritious meal.

Wasn’t my choice. I was told to meet folks there. I expected more, however, when I saw multi-million dollar building on equally expensive waterfront property on harbor. Evidently, the overhead is so high that corners have to be cut somewhere. They chose to cut food quality.
I don’t understand how the name of a restaurant can be construed as getting “exactly what you deserved,” however, and I leave it to lesser minds to scrape the humor out of that inane comment.
Inflation is most evident in the size of the containers of store bought blueberries versus a few years ago….it’s almost comical.
