That is why I made a decision 25 years ago to work and live in Lexington County.

I moved from Richland County to Lexington County April 1, 1991. I saw the writing on that wall a long time ago…the writing said “get the hell out of Richland County and especially the City of Columbia.” God I’m glad for insight.

Well stated with proven facts, job well done. Richland county is a prime example of Liberal Progressives taxing Americans and Business. This concept ALWAYS fails as is the Failed President and his administration. Regulations and spending cuts is the ONLY way to prosperity folks.

You voted, (TAKERS) these fools into office and you got what you wished for…

Ron, which of the counties offers better prices on cocaine?

This Thomas says nice work on the research. What jumps out to me, and I lived across the street from the Summit from 1989 to 2004, is how “progressive” Richland has become. The progressives want “things” and will raise taxes to get them.

The Democrats have ruined Richland County with high taxes, high crime, and “thing” projects that have left them behind the averages.

In Lexington, we will vote out the 30 year baggers and conform our county to progress, not be a haven for progressives.

On another note, the contrasts between Progressive/liberal Richland and Conservative Lexington is beyond a doubt also the same across the nation. The GOP needs to vote out their McConnels, Harrels, and Wilsons across the nation to build up the party away from failed liberal Democrat tax and spend government which is where we are heading.

Richland needs to get rid of the LEOs and people like Joel Lourie. As long as you have the Kotoskes of the world supporting the Louries of the world among others, nothing will change. It’s all about politics and their self-serving ways. They don’t care about the people of that county.

Perhaps you need to send a copy of your article to Lexington’s Mayor Halfwit.

He and his fellow Clown College Graduates are on the verge of raising the sales tax in Lexington County as soon as they can hire McBride away from Richland County.

While really long, that was a really good write-up. The truth hurts, Columbia. Being right next to a conservative county like Lexington makes it pretty clear…

72 percent of Richland County voted straight party Dimocrat. And raised taxes on themselves. But hey, we will have an ice rink on Main Street soon. The homeless in the library will have somewhere to skate.

VERY Timely Expose….

Lexington is beginning to get drunk on its ability to pick-pocket its residents. This GREAT piece of writng should sober up these Tax-Happy idiots…

Don’t kill the Goose…and taxes will strangle it quicker than anything.

Richland/Columbia is a perfect example of what not to do yet the Lexington politicos can’t wait to follow them off the cliff, it’s like they feel they are playing catch up. Instead of protecting their advantage they are trying to squander it. There should be some anti-tax groups springing up soon in Lexington County and I will join/cooperate and one thing that should be done is protesting in front of the fools’ homes. That is an intimidating tactic but they won’t listen to people, look what they tried to do with the ordinances for cutting grass, painting sheds, mulch requirements, requirements for three different types of trees, they were just nuts with minute regulations. They won’t stop on their own so they will have to be stopped.

Don’t come over to the Richland-Lexington 5 School District. The School Board and Stink-intendant think they are in the construction business. I think they want a school built every 2 miles so they can hire more teachers, increase operating costs to help justify the increased mileage and screw the taxpayer. It will not be long before they run everyone from the area that makes less than $250,000 per year. And why the people voted these clowns into office is beyond my comprehension. I believe they only want the district to be know as “the millionaire district.”

One huge problem Richland has is large amounts of untaxed property. State, city, county, churches etc all occupy huge chunks of the city and they receive the city services with no payment except for water.

The number of “for rent/lease” & “for sale” with empty buildings, especially in downtown Columbia is truly astounding.

TL;DR

Isn’t Aiken the same hack that was fired by a Gamecock fan site and then wrote several ridiculous rants on the Free Times Blogs, cussing out Spurrier and claiming he should apologize to the fans? I think he even said he should retire, but I’m not sure.

It’s hard to take him too seriously after that.

Great article. I run a business that has been in the city for over 50 years and we have a plan to move across the river if anyone ever makes an offer on our current building and land. And it is not all about taxes, dealing with the city will drive you mad.

Anytime someone from the city shows up I know it is going to cost me money. It is never “what can we do for you” it is always “this is what you have to do for us”. And then they hand you a bill.

My two cents– Joe Wilson who purports to “mean jobs” has done SHIT for his district as far as jobs. He takes credit for the positive actions of others and is the most shallow, simpleminded person I’ve ever met. Here is one Republican who will vote anybody but Joe in 2014. With the loss of Jake Knotts, Joe Wilson is now our state’s embarrassment. He would have been wise to have helped the business community rather than turn his back on them. When he needs their help he’ll be begging. We need a congressman in DC. All we have is the village idiot.

Tammy November 15, 2012 at 7:46 pm

I agree except that Roxanne and Suzanne and that real idiot Butch are bigger embarrassments. I hear one of Lexingtons prominent business leaders is promoting former Sen. Greg Ryberg of Aiken to run for Wilson’s seat. If Joe loses his Lexington friends he’s toast.

TeaTimingTim November 15, 2012 at 7:54 pm

No Mo Jo. If there is support in Lexington circles for Ryberg then I’m in! I too have heard some of Wilson’s old supporters are now abandoning him.. Only thing Danny Frazier ever said that was truthful is that Joe Wilson is a WOOSIE.
