Claude "C.B." Rowe
Claude “C.B.” Rowe was hired by Alex Murdaugh to help maintain the grounds of the 1700-acre hunting property where the murders of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh occurred. Born in 1957, Rowe resides in Brunson, South Carolina.
Rowe received a BS in Chemistry & Environmental Science from Charleston Southern and was a chemistry teacher at Thomas Heyward Academy in Ridgeland, South Carolina until he was fired in 2010 for having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Rowe was arrested in 2010 and charged with sexual battery of a student in Jasper County. He pled guilty in Jasper County Circuit Court on March 17, 2011 and was sentenced to five years in prison, but the sentence was suspended to five years of probation by Judge Carmen Mullen.
Murdaugh claimed that Rowe had killed a field of sunflowers they had planted and on the June 7, 2021, Rowe called Murdaugh during his drive to his parent’s home in Almeda but Murdaugh was on the phone with attorney Chris Wilson and told him he would call him back the next day. He is mentioned by Murdaugh in his first interview with law enforcement in an odd story about him being involved in killing radical black panthers.
