Corporal Chad McDowell
Corporal Chad McDowell works for Colleton County Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol canine handler. He was called to the stand to testify on Thursday, January 26, 2023 in the double homicide trial of accused murderer Alex Murdaugh.
McDowell was among the first law enforcement officers to arrive at 4147 Moselle Road on June 7, 2021. His body worn camera footage was entered into evidence. He testified that he marked casings at the scene to ensure evidence was preserved by placing crime scene tape beside them and rocks over them until the crime scene technicians arrived.
Corporal McDowell testified that he recalled a cell phone was laying on Paul Murdaugh’s rear end.
