Henry McMaster

Henry McMaster is the 117th and current governor of South Carolina. A native of Columbia, S.C., he assumed office in January 2017 when Donald Trump appointed Nikki Haley to be his ambassador to the United Nations – which he did as a favor to McMaster.
McMaster was elected to a first full term in 2018 and a second term in 2022.
Prior to his ascension to the governor’s mansion, McMaster was South Carolina’s lieutenant governor (2015-2017), attorney general (2003-2011) and chairman of the S.C. Republican Party (1993-2002). He also spent four years as U.S. attorney for South Carolina from 1981-1985 under former president Ronald Reagan.
