If you venture onto the water you take your own life in your hands. Don’t expect everyone and everything to fix whatever might go wrong for you on the water.
Proceed at your own risk.
Alcohol+power craft+testosterone is always a dangerous mix. … Surprised this doesn’t happen every day.
So many bad decisions made here that cost this young man his life. While heartbroken for the parents, I have to wonder-did the Dad who was on the trip know that his 19 year old (underaged) son was drinking as was his 30 year old companion, the driver? If he did, those were two of the worst decisions. It is a horrific tragedy that could have been prevented.
No. He wasn’t aware.
No. And no.
Perhaps an appropriate response with compassion and couth would be more appropriate? Or you may want consider who was serving alcohol to minors present that day. Not the 19yr old child , the men in their 30’s and 40’s. Is a victim of sexual assault at fault based upon what they were wearing, or if they’d consumed alcohol ? This child did not kill himself . This boy’s father did not allow anyone to kill his son. It’s Ludicrous.
Some drunk selfish idiot speeding on a river or a lake with a 150 HP motor can cause wake damage to boaters, docks, river beds, etc. There should be a HP limit for recreational boating. And SCDNR should take over training of dispatchers to prevent this stupid jurisdictional confusion. Also, all these boating killers seem to have been cited with violations many times before but are still out there.
