As a wicked storm system moved across the state of South Carolina on Thursday afternoon, a Blythewood woman was feeling the ill effects of the inclement weather more than most of her friends and neighbors. Her name? Tanya Branham.
All Branham could think about as the winds whipped, lightning flashed and rains cascaded was her missing dog …
Branham – who is deaf – has not seen her beloved Maltese since October 11. The dog, named “Precious,” was last seen on that date near Swygert Road and Fulmer Road in Blythewood, S.C. – a fast-growing town of nearly 3,000 people located just north of Columbia, S.C. near Interstate 77.

One of Branham’s former coworkers reached out to us on Thursday – telling us their deaf friend was “heartbroken” over her missing animal and asking if there was anything we could do to help.
“She would love to see her dog again!” Branham’s friend told us.
Hopefully she will see her again … but we were heartened to see Branham already posting on social media about her plans to adopt a new animal soon, regardless of the outcome of her quest to find Precious.
That did our hearts good … as did Branham’s decision to help out the owners of other missing animals by posting their pictures to her Facebook page.

Branham and her family also wanted us to make sure that everyone reading this article knew that no questions would be asked of anyone returning the dog to its rightful owner.
“She only wants her dog back,” Branham’s friend told us.
While we will keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best for Branham and Precious, this is a good reminder to our readers to take advantage of some of the wonderful social media sites – most of them run by volunteers – dedicated to reuniting missing pets and their owners.
Ever looking for something to share on your social media page? Find a missing pet in your area and help spread the word to your friends and neighbors … you never know if your post could be the one that ultimately makes the connection.
Also, if you ever lose your animal – or find an animal and don’t know who it belongs to – share a picture, description, your contact information and any other pertinent details with Chasing Tails and other online groups in the area that link up lost animals with their owners.
