The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is conducting an investigation into the death of a pedestrian in Lexington County last week.

At around 10:15 p.m. EDT last Thursday (May 2, 2019), 46-year-old Kevin C. Jones of Lexington, S.C. was struck by a pickup truck while walking in the roadway of the 4200 block of Augusta Highway in Gilbert, S.C.

The driver of the truck – who was uninjured – reportedly stopped and attempted to provide first aid to Jones, but it was to no avail as he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident.

According to our sources, Jones allegedly had some sort of interaction with Lexington County, S.C. emergency responders just prior to being struck and killed by the pickup truck – although it is not immediately clear what may have transpired during that alleged exchange.
