University Of South Carolina Logo Choices Mocked

Another “higher educrat” fail …

The University of South Carolina is catching flak this week for its newly updated logos, with many alumni bashing the simplistic, unoriginal designs on social media.

And with good reason …

“This logo is equivalent to the effort at the Belk Bowl,” one critic observed, referring to the ignominious defeat recently inflicted upon the school’s struggling football program in Charlotte, N.C.

We concur … and while we understand increasingly expensive failure is par for the course in South Carolina (especially where higher education is concerned), have these taxpayer-funded educrats forgotten how to do basic graphic design?

We were tempted to say these offerings resembled the work of some easily triggered, safe-space inhabiting college students, but frankly that is far too charitable an assessment. Hell, crediting these designs to a high school yearbook staff would be bestowing undeserved accolades upon them.

Also, what is this branding obsession with “UofSC?”

Have we seriously become such an attention deficit disordered society that people can only go five letters deep?

Wait … don’t answer that.

As terrible as these new logo choices are, though, the real problems at “UofSC” are much worse.  We are talking about soaring tuition increases, skyrocketing debt, rabid political correctness and out-of-control spending on failed “economic development” ventures.

Whatever logo you wish to slap on those things, it doesn’t change the fail …
