“We have roughly 94 million American citizens not working in a stable job today.” – The once best in class MIBS is pretty much falling in my eyes.

You can’t assess the Chicken Coop with this one – even smart folks can have dumb ideas.

True. Ah those great Fall days, of going back and forth between the Capstone and Gambrell. Used to be able to smoke on the Gambrell patio and look down and – I hate to say this – look down girls shirts as they walked by.

The Colonel (R) January 28, 2016 at 9:58 am

Not that I would ever do it but you can still do that (look down the shirts of the fine looking coeds), you just can’t smoke there anymore (thank God, it’s a nasty habit).

Rocky Verdad January 28, 2016 at 10:11 am

It was tobacco.

stumpknocker January 28, 2016 at 10:20 am

was the golden spur still a bar when you attended?

The Colonel (R) January 28, 2016 at 10:28 am

Closed my second year – we moved across the street from the Honeycombs to Pappy’s and the Bird.

stumpknocker January 28, 2016 at 10:32 am

i kinda remember one night getting hammered on 2 dollar a pitcher dark beer then walking over to the theater to watch a little three piece band called the police, those were the days

The Colonel (R) January 28, 2016 at 10:42 am

Hootie and company played for beer money, Rockaway’s had great bands and Pappy for some unknown reason put olives in the bottom of his pitchers…

Rocky Verdad January 28, 2016 at 10:43 am

Wanna say say Hootie at one of the above mentioned one night, in like December.

The Colonel (R) January 28, 2016 at 10:58 am

Funny thing is now, 3/4 of the undergraduate students on campus aren’t old enough to legally drink. Ol’Will is big on make doobage legal but you never hear him say anything about the drinking age…

Rocky Verdad January 28, 2016 at 10:32 am

The ones I recall (and just the bars not the names) was 1) One on Rosewood that had good wings think it was at around Edisto? Not sure. Then one on Devine just east of 5 Points, had an outside deck. Also what seemed one night, and I was really drunk, a set of like three off Harden and Devine that were all interconnected. Lizards Thicket across from the Horseshoe was good for breakfast. There was also that laundry mat down off of Assembly that was also a bar with food, beer and pool tables. Now that was a great concept.

Rocky Verdad January 28, 2016 at 10:10 am

Quit in 2009 – still kick my ass for having ever done it – the dentist costs aftwards where horrific – and now if I have a nightmare – I’m smoking (sometimes with Flip).

stumpknocker January 28, 2016 at 10:16 am

that would be a nightmare, though flip is full of intelligent thought provoking insight, he does smoke cow patties because the price of tobacco is too high.

fl ? p January 28, 2016 at 11:41 am

You have to admit, those cow patties are good shit!

If we could only get the three and a half million 85+ non nursing home residents that are included in the 94 million off their butts into jobs, it would help.

Reply

This guy is enrolled in the International MBA program, not the MIBS program, at the Univ. of South Carolina. Both are great programs, but not the same. I get your point though. If he thinks our economy can flourish without (some, legal) immigration, I have to wonder what they’re teaching him there. Not to mention coexisting with the growth in social welfare programs and the growth industry of disability claims.

The Colonel: 1, Santorum: -200

The Colonel (R) January 28, 2016 at 12:58 pm

What bothers me about who? Santorum? That’s easy enough, he’s nutty as a fruit bat:

First, there’s this idiotic idea that his Catholic opinion about birth control should be the national policy – “…Many of the Christian faith have said, well, that’s okay, contraception is okay. It’s not okay. It’s a license to do things in a sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.” CaffeinatedThoughts.com (October 2011)

Then there’s this logical fallacy about the effects of abortion – “…The reason Social Security is in big trouble is we don’t have enough workers to support the retirees. Well, a third of all the young people in America are not in America today because of abortion…” Republican presidential debate (May 2011)

I’m staunchly Pro Life but Santorum is just stupid.

Then there’s the fact that despite national exposure, incumbent Santorum lost his senate seat in 2006 by a landslide. added to the fact that despite winning 11 caucases and primary votes Santorum couldn’t beat Romney in the long haul.

Let’s see – loony and a loser – yep, that about sums it up.

Jose Wales January 28, 2016 at 1:08 pm

He lost his senate seat in a BLUE state. So what.60 million taxpayers aborted since Roe v.Wade. FACT.

While you ran around ranting and raving about an issue NOBODY cared about but the race hustlers on the left( bringing the ‘rebel’ flag down) so your leftist academia friends would like you,Santorum was speaking about protecting life and defunding Planned Parenthood.

I will stand with Santorum. You my friend are ‘staunchly Pro Life’ only when it is politically correct to do so.

Rocky Verdad January 28, 2016 at 1:19 pm

Maybe if he’d spent more time being a Senator and less time pontificating on Hannity and Colmes he’d still be a Senator. What a dork. And now you claim it’s a blue state, when two weeks ago you said it was in play with Trump. Get your damned facts in order.

Jose Wales January 28, 2016 at 1:29 pm

It is a blue state that will flip-all bout that war on coal by the Democrat Party.

After Pennsylvania and America sees all the perverts and communists invade Philadelphia for the DNC and shit in/litter/riot in the city, many blue states will flip red.

Does Fits give you 30 minutes for lunch?

Rocky Verdad January 28, 2016 at 2:40 pm

You must be drunk. You realize that there are 8,000 coal workers in PA, versus a labor force of 6.5 million, and a total population of 12.8 million. God you’re dumber than a bag of coal. Ever been to the coal region? There’s nothin’ left of it. WY produces 7 times as much coal as PA with the same number of people. You’re as clueless as a blind dog in a cat factory.

Jose Wales January 28, 2016 at 2:49 pm

Chuck Laudner is best known for engineering Rick Santorum’s upset caucus win here in 2012 by driving around the former senator from Pennsylvania in his pickup truck. He is now traversing the state, laying the groundwork to convert celebrity gawkers who flock to events featuring Trump, a famed real estate magnate, into first-time caucusgoers.

Good call: the HB-1 visas are killing the American Engineer. I’ve seen it personally at many universities across the country. Today, there’s no economic incentive for a US Citizen to go thru the amount of work and education that is required to become a graduate Engineer from a major accredited university. With the same, or less, amount of effort they can become a doctor or worse yet: Lawyer. At much higher salaries.

We do need a few of these brilliant HB-1 international engineers, but the vast majority are poorly educated, and only coming in to kill wages and take jobs at the companies and even colleges that are lobbying to keep this rip off in action.

Most of these HB-1 foreign engineers are worthless vs. US Citizen engineers. I’ve seen one US Student work rings around 5 or more of these foreign “so called engineers.” Who were not trained, educated or brought up in a free thinking society.

The HB-1 visa program is: “Killing the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs,” USA dominance in high tech. Many just steal our secrets and take them back to China and other places to use against us. A completely disastrous and traitorous practice.
The HB-1 Visas need to be completely shut down.

Remember: 911? Some of the Terrorist were in the USA on Student HB-1 visas.

LMAO!!! Hillary the criminal turning in Bernie the communist cheater!!!!OH MY!!!

Bernie Sanders lashed out at Hillary Clinton’s allies – and threw in Donald Trump for good measure – during a heated breakfast session with reporters in Des Moines Thursday, countering an array of allegations from the Clinton camp while claiming he’ll win the Iowa caucuses if turnout is large.

The Democratic presidential candidate, who is running almost even with Clinton in most Iowa polls, got animated when he was asked by a Bloomberg Politics journalist about Clinton camp whispers that out-of-state young people may try to show up to caucus.

Fake Fundraising January 28, 2016 at 4:08 pm

No mention of the farce veteran’s fundraiser Donald is holding? That he just created the website yesterday and that the funds go to his private foundation, not directly to a veteran organization. Or that he gave more to the Clinton Foundation than he has vet causes combined (measly $59,000 is one figure I read). Not to mention for decades he has been attempting to have licensed disabled veteran vendors booted off 5th Avenue? LOL, one of the stock photos on the website is an Ukrainian actor dressed up as a soldier.

Good to hear the whiny ass vets that serve a couple of years, think they are hero’s and then fill the disability rolls bankrupting this nation have ALL the money they need.

I don’t they are going to miss out on much. The first fundraiser he held was for a scam veteran group. This one is going directly to Donald’s Foundation and you can see below how much he donated to them in the past. 57k divided by 7 about $8100 each.

The Donald J. Trump Foundation has donated $5.5 million to 298 charities between 2009 and 2013 (the most recent year available), according to the non-profit’s 990 tax forms from those years. Of that, only $57,000 has been donated to seven organizations that directly benefit military veterans or their families, Forbes found. Wounded Warriors was not among the organizations Trump’s foundation gave to in that time period.
