Congresswoman Nancy Mace is urging the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) to review “disturbing reports” of educations and institutions “celebrating or excusing” political violence in the aftermath of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s shocking assassination last week in Orem, Utah.
“Their rhetoric is sick and disturbing,” Mace wrote in a letter to education secretary Linda McMahon. “This vile language serves no other purpose than to beget more political violence in this country.”
Kirk was struck down by a domestic terrorist’s bullet as he hosted a free and open exchange of ideas on the campus of Utah Valley University last Wednesday (September 10, 2025). Initial reports indicate his killer was part of the ‘Transtifa’ movement, a radical leftist movement devoted to the violent assertion of transgender ideology.
“Charlie Kirk spent his life defending free speech and standing for faith, family, and freedom, while inspiring young Americans to stand up for their beliefs,” Mace said in a statement. “Educators who celebrate his assassination are not just unfit, they’re dangerous, and they will not collect paychecks on the backs of American taxpayers.”

Mace singled out Clemson University, Coastal Carolina University and the Charleston and Greenville county school districts for review – calling on McMahon to “cut off every dime of federal funding from schools refusing to act against staff who excuse or glorify the murder of Charlie Kirk.”
Mace further asked McMahon to “hold educators fully accountable when they promote or defend political violence,” demanding “removal, not excuses.”
Specifically, McMahon’s agency was urged to “review and terminate federal financial assistance to any elementary, secondary and post-secondary educational institution which fails to take administrative action or discipline, to the maximum extent allowable by law, against any personnel who choose to justify political violence or celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk.”
In her letter (.pdf) to McMahon, Mace noted “in recent years, we have seen horrific instances of political violence in this country, including the attempted assassination of President Trump in Butler PA, which cost the life of Corey Comperatore, the subsequent assassination attempt of President Trump in Palm Beach, FL, and the targeted shooting of Republican members of Congress and staff at a practice for the congressional baseball game.”

“As the public mourns the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk, unfortunately some far-left teachers, professors and administrative personnel at elementary, secondary and post-secondary educational institutions across the country have seen fit to celebrate or make light of the horrific assassination of Charlie and even to make excuses for, or to justify political violence in America,” Mace continued. “This is fundamentally incompatible with the values of our nation – and anyone who would celebrate the assassination of their fellow citizen should have no role in educating America’s children.”
According to Mace, schools which fail to “terminate any personnel who spews this hate, which is irreconcilable with the values of this country, should not be subsidized by the American taxpayer.”
That’s true… although taxpayer subsidization of higher education is, as FITSNews has often noted, incompatible with core functions of governance (no matter what the institutions are spewing.”
“No taxpayer funding should go to institutions of higher learning, either in the form of direct appropriations, loan guarantees or student loans,” my outlet has often noted. “These institutions should be cut off from the public dole and set free to pursue their destinies in the private sector – allowing the market to dictate whether they sink or swim.”

“Their rhetoric is sick and disturbing,”
So was Charlie Kirk’s.
How about no federal, state, local, or school jobs for those who COMMIT political violence? You know, like the Jan 6th mob?
Poor little Nancy, ever the opportunist. Trying to hitch her wagon to anything which will gain her even a shred of relevancy, even if it is the grief of others’.
Nailed it. Every morning the narcissist says…. How can I make this about me?
The lady who uses slurs on capital hill huh? They ever find that spray paint can? Probably didn’t check her purse.
Anyone who would celebrate the assassination of their fellow citizen? How about humans in general? Or is that too much for MAGA? So many people don’t matter. Trump has been spewing hate since the last time he was in office? With the help of Fox and sites like this one. He joked about the attempted murder of Nancy Pelosi and her husband. He said nothing when his mob attacked the Capitol with the intent to kill Mike Pence and many others. He even pardoned them. He posted a meme of Joe Biden tied up and thrown into the back of a Truck. He said nothing about the assassination of Melissa Hortman and her husband by a Trump cult member. Trump said he may pardon the people who plotted to kidnap and kill Gretchen Whitmer. Trump has called Hispanics deranged, killers, animals, gang members, and accused them of poisoning the blood of the nation and eating pets. Trump has repeatedly pulled Secret Service protection from people he considers enemies and who have been threatened with political violence. What does that say? Why did he pull their protection if he was not encouraging those who want to kill them? 75% of political murders in this Country over the last decade have come from the right, and Republicans say nothing. And let us not forget that murder is not the only violence. Trump and the Republicans are literally blocking all of us from knowing who participated in raping innocent children with Trump’s “best friend,” Jeffrey Epstein.
The right only hates violence committed against the right. Otherwise, they could not care less. Time after time, I have heard Trumpers brag that they have the most guns and threaten to use them against their fellow citizens. That is not only celebrating the death of fellow citizens, but actively encouraging it and expressing a willingness to participate in it. Not in response to violence, but in response to how they vote. How many of these right-wing hate groups will be investigated? I am betting none.
The is a double standard with Trumpian politicians. Targeting Trumpers is condemned, but assassination of Democrats (Minnesota state legislators), or firebombing a governor’s mansion, Pennsylvania, goes unnoticed.
Nancy Mace is mentally unwell.
