Well he did not help when he doubled down on trickle down. Cut taxes on the rich, cut benefits for the middle class; then borrow and spend money the middle class will have to pay back. That is the Bush economy in a nutshell.

Because it is. You should have listened to the debate last night, You would know this. Wealth inequality in the US has reached the level of the years of the robber barons. Since 1980 90% of all gains in income have gone to the top 10% of Americans. In the US today the combined net worth of the top 10% is almost as much as the remaining 90%. All of this has largely happened since 1980. If you doubt that ask your buddy Ben Carson. He said the same thing.
What do you think the wealth disparity complaints are all about?

Well of course. What is Middle class for a nation has to be relative. If the richest people in India make 50% of what the richest people in the US make, they are still the wealthy by India standards. You can quibble if you want, but what they are measuring is wealth disparity. Who controls the nations wealth.
What SSFH, is amazed at is that his perception that America has a larger middle class than anyone else is wrong. If we break any society into Rich, Middle Class and Poor, America is not faring well. The middle class in other countries, particular the Western Democracies other than the US, are doing much better than our middle class..
If our economy was working the way it did for most the 20th century, the wealth of the nation would be more widely disbursed, instead of being concentrated into fewer and fewer hands. The continued concentration of wealth into fewer and fewer hands and the shrinking middle class is what this shows.
