Improving Perceptions Of South Carolina’s Judicial Climate Requires Accountability
“Let’s clean up our courts and ensure a fair, balanced system that benefits all South Carolinians…”

I think this is a step too far even for FITSNews. While I appreciate a lot of the humor on this website, posting a fake satirical column under the Attorney General’s name is a little much. He is probably going to be really unhappy when he see this.
We know the Attorney General did not actually write this for several reasons.
Anybody who has done the research knows the tort reform claims are manufactured by the insurance industry. The real business costs are from rising insurance premiums and the continued refusal of insurance companies to fairly evaluate claims. As I am sure the real Alan Wilson would know, tort reform has never led to reduced insurance premiums and never will. If Wilson really wrote this column, I suspect he would want to tell us he will join MAGA star and Republican lawmaker Josh Hawley in investigating the insurance companies’ record profits in the face of increased claim denials and rising premiums. Hawley is serious about insurance reform and that will have a real impact on business costs. In fact, Alan Wilson could make a real difference for the people of South Carolina by using his office to investigate these companies and their actions that hurt both businesses and the citizens of South Carolina.
More importantly, if Wilson really wrote this I highly doubt a respected attorney and elected official would make baseless claims that the judiciary is not treating the people of South Carolina fairly. The real Alan Wilson knows the judiciary is accountable to the people through the legislature. I am sure if people want new judges, just like Wilson they know that they can elect new legislators.
The real Alan Wilson would also have some specific examples of older or long-serving judges who have damaged the judicial system, since the ideas in the column seem focused on getting rid of old judges and installing new judges. I doubt our Attorney General would ever insult senior judges in our state without specifically listing things those judges have done wrong.
I like this site. It is funny and we could all use a little humor in our life. But offending our Attorney General by posting this fake column under his name is not fair to him and not funny. You should apologize to Alan Wilson.
