Nikki Haley’s “Great Day” Greeting On Hold

“IT’S NOT A GREAT DAY IN SOUTH CAROLINA”

|| By FITSNEWS || For the first time in nearly four years, it’s not a “great day in South Carolina.” Nor will it be … until the end of the month, apparently.

That’s because S.C. governor Nikki Haley has reportedly instructed her cabinet agencies to stop answering the phone using her mandated greeting of choice.

In September 2011, Haley instructed all of her cabinet agency employees to start answering their telephones with the greeting “Hello, it’s a great day in South Carolina.”

Obviously in light of the “Holy City Massacre” – in which a 21-year-old white suspect murdered nine black churchgoers in cold blood – such a greeting is obviously far from true (assuming it ever was).  In fact at the moment it’s borderline incendiary if you are a black South Carolinian.  Accordingly, Haley has reportedly instructed her agencies to shelve the hokey platitude for the next ten days.

Smart move …

Haley’s greeting has been mocked, legislated against and politicized.  And now it’s been put on hold … temporarily.  Frankly, we’d advise the governor to disconnect it permanently.

Fake Tears from a Fake Woman June 19, 2015 at 2:09 pm

You should take a look at the video of her “crying” when talking about the shooting, I have never seen something more fake in my life save for GrandTango pretending he knew what he was talking about.

Is there anything she does that you can’t find a reason to criticize her? Would you have been critical if she didn’t cry. How about if she cried uncontrollably? Do you have to judge even her crying? Who would want to be governor, when even your crying is judged critically?

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 5:18 pm

She never cried, she got choked up. Would you get choked up if someone you knew had just died and you could feel the pain their families must be feeling. I don’t always agree with her, but to admonish her because he got choked up during an interview. Grasping at straws.

SC had to be proud of Haley. While Obama was hating on America and calling it evil and racist-Nikki spoke to the hearts of not only South Carolinian’s but ALL of America.

I wonder if SC cabinet agency employees are allowed to audibly “snicker” after say “It’s a great day in SC”?

Reply

I usually say “My sympathies are with you for having to say that.”

Reply

That’s a great suggestion!!!
Come to think of it I haven’t heard that greeting for some time. I called SC DNR last week and didn’t hear it or the Southport DMV branch in Spartanburg a few weeks back for that matter…………..
But if I DO hear it again, I’m gonna use your retort (with your permission of course) Or I guess I could say: “Buzzman says his sympathies are with you for having to say that”!!

Reply
Beartrkkr June 19, 2015 at 11:22 pm

DNR is not a cabinet agency and thus like a few other agencies, was “immune” to having to answer with that silliness is what I was told when I asked someone there.

These little “customer service niceties” are usually more trouble for the employees than any good will they generate. At one time in the early part of the 2000s I had friends who worked customer service for a large company and for several weeks they had to ask at the end of each call. “Have I satisfied all your needs today.” You can imagine how that went and why it only lasted a few weeks.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 7:11 pm

Just smile your biggest smile and let it shine in your voice, “Thanks and have a great day.” Best way to end an ugly conversation with someone who just wants to argue, yet can’t get you fired.

Reply
Quietus June 19, 2015 at 8:03 pm

I was lucky I didn’t have to say it, but I knew many that did including many female reps. “Have I satisfied all your needs today.” turned in to pornographic advances quickly in many cases.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:05 pm

With citizens like Troublebaby, midgets are the only ones interested in serving.

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 7:48 pm

Chicken or the egg?

Maybe the system is the problem and not the citizen.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 7:50 pm

The system is a product of the citizens. The system will change if the populace wants to change it.

Bible Thumper June 19, 2015 at 7:52 pm

The citizens have the vote. They get what they deserve.

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:00 pm

Ha! That you still cling to that shows you too should have no place in government or control over their lives.

They might “get what they deserve”, but they only “deserve it” for being stupid and/or gullible.

The pols themselves are despicable in every way, preying on the fears & dreams of those silly enough to believe them.

That they have superior intellect and less morals over those that elected them makes them worse than the dupes/citizens.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:02 pm

Should we require an IQ test to vote? They get what they deserve when they elect the same officials over and over. The people came before the system, so if the system is broken it is up to the people to fix it.

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:05 pm

It doesn’t matter how the system came about(but I could argue that it’s never been “the people” that created it, you may or may not agree).

All that matters is what it is: A corrupt cesspool run by villainous cretin’s that suck the marrow out of a substantially stupid and significantly immoral electorate. There are no “good guys”, everyone “deserves what they get.”

If God existed I’d say he’d have a mind to pull a Sodom & Gomorrah again.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:10 pm

If God exists, he doesn’t care about the mistakes we make. He gave us a conscious to know right from wrong. The ability to discern.

People are the problem, there would be no system without people. Government cannot distribute wealth that taxpayers don’t willingly pay. Government has very limited abilities, IF the people stand together.

People are as diverse as the system. Equally uneducated, lazy, brilliant, hard working and everything in between. Until people change their attitudes and learn to work together. The system will never change. We are tools of the media.

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:13 pm

“People are the problem, there would be no system without people.
Government cannot distribute wealth that taxpayers don’t willingly pay.”

I’m sorry, but you don’t seem in touch with reality. I say that not trying to be offensive- but the reality is that every day government forces a ton of people to do a lot of things they don’t want to, including pay taxes.

“People are as diverse as the system. Equally uneducated, lazy, brilliant, hard working and everything in between.”

There are always exceptions/outliers, but the average IQ remains 100 more or less, and we haven’t established a “morality” rating yet.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:15 pm

Average IQ 100 is questionable. The government can only distribute wealth if the people agree. The problem is we are so divided and that works for the government.

I am not offended, I just call it “Frankly”

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:15 pm

…I’m sorry- I can’t continue.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:16 pm

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:16 pm

actually you don’t understand…but thank you.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:18 pm

I do. You disagree. Unwilling to discuss. You are happy with what you believe. It isn’t that we disagree. It is that you prefer your side of the story and are not willing to look at any other side right now. I understand. You’re welcome.

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:20 pm

Tell me how the average IQ of 100 is questionable.

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:28 pm

Average is IQ in Us is 90-100. Average IQ for other countries are higher or lower. I think it is a reasonable doubt that we currently have an average IQ of 100 across the board in SC. Or even US. The data is old. IQ measure what you can learn, not what you know.

TroubleBaby June 19, 2015 at 8:29 pm

What if I had used the words “mean” or “mode”, would that have changed your answer?

Frank Right June 19, 2015 at 8:35 pm

I believe you give people too much credit. IQ measures their ability to learn. The problem is most people are busy with jobs, family, and in general keeping up with their own. They don’t have time to apply that IQ to politics. They follow their favorite media source. Few have time to question it. Most sources are unreliable as a guideline. The more powerful the media, the less they use that IQ ability to learn.

If people could find a way to agree on single issues, they could accomplish, those single issues and still not vote against their conscious. Politics has become so polarized, no two people can agree on more than a few lines. I believe you and I have proven that point, while in the big picture, we might agree.

Bible Thumper June 19, 2015 at 8:40 pm

Median, smarty. Mode is most common value.

That stupid greeting was instituted because it was an echo of the first line uttered by Haley at the tea party rally on the capital steps, the video of which was used extensively in her campaign. In fact, the first image and sound association many of us have with her is her standing there and saying “It’s a great day fro a tea party!”

Glad they’re not using it this month. They should lose it forever.

If the majority of this website agree with giving them time of day, that is a choice. But you have to ask yourself, do you want to change SC or just talk silly all day to those who have nothing in common for the sake of entertainment and never really know how they might use that information. It is articles like the one you linked, that give me confidence that in spite of the so called demographics, Democrats will never dominate the political landscape for long. The Kochs and others like them do more for the poor than all the government programs combined. And they pay more than their share for those government programs. The government wants to take money and redistribute it. The Koch give 60,000 Americans jobs by creating wealth. They don’t demand money from anyone. People voluntarily give them money for the products and services they provide. If the shuts down, you hardly notice. If Koch inc.closed and others like him, you would not be filling up your car or getting food or healthcare. Tomsickle would starve and eventually be naked and homeless. You forget that many poor vote Republican because they know what misguided good intentions can mean. They see Venezuela.

What is your emergency?” response when I called *HP after seeing a tractor trailer flip on I-26. When I called the Highway Patrol office about the inappropriate *HP greeting, I was told, “Gov. Haley is our boss, and we have to do what she orders.”
