SUPPORTERS TO GATHER AT S.C. STATE HOUSE …
|| By FITSNEWS || A group of citizens supporting the legalization of medical marijuana will gather at the S.C. State House next week.
Joining them? S.C. senator Tom Davis and state representative Jenny Horne – lead sponsors of legislation which would “create a medical marijuana program for cultivation, product testing, quality and dispensing” in the Palmetto State.
Davis and Horne’s efforts have been opposed by law enforcement leaders like S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) chief Mark Keel – who apparently have nothing better to do with their time.
In fact believe it or not, Keel is actively opposing a limited cannabinoid oil measure approved last year that helps kids find relief from previously uncontrollable seizures. Davis was the sponsor of that legislation, too.
We support Davis and Horne’s legislation … of course we support the decriminalization of marijuana (and other drugs) for medical and recreational purposes. It is simply not government’s purview to tell an adult what they can or cannot do (or grow) on their own time on their own property – so long as those actions don’t impose on the liberty of others.
Anyway, the rally for medical marijuana will take place on Wednesday, May 20 on the south steps of the S.C. State House at 11:30 a.m. EDT.

Please call the white house comment line at (202) 456-1111 and ask that the President issue an executive order to remove marijuana from schedule 1 immediately.

@FITS – Why don’t you send one of your reporter-ettes to Colorado and see how the marijuana legalization is working out? There are teens going psychotic and jumping off buildings. EVERYWHERE you go, reeks of weed. The rehab centers are filled to capacity.
Colorado is rolling in the money is what’s happening out there. So much so that neighboring states don’t like their residents’ money filling Colorado’s coffers so have decided to sue like little bitches.

Suicides due to rejection of gay teens by their families are at an all time high, just as one reason this is true The law in CO does not make it legal for minors to smoke pot. nor does it increase availability for them. If anything it is harder to get because the cartels are being crowded out and risky street weed is not as much a factor. The combination of booze and any number of different drugs including legally prescribed ones is what is driving kids and adults into rehab and if the centers are filling up that is good because those people desperately need the help. But this is all beside the point. The rally is about a medicine to help children, anyway, not a recreational drug. Throw out red herrings much?
