THAT’S RIGHT …

|| By FITSNEWS || The poster agency for rogue bureaucracies in Washington, D.C. is at it again …

Barack Obama‘s eco-radical Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) wants U.S. hotels to start tracking how long their guests spend in the shower – and they’ve launched a study to

“Hotels consume a significant amount of water in the U.S. and around the world,” an agency grant reads. “Most hotels do not monitor individual guest water usage and as a result, millions of gallons of potable water are wasted every year by hotel guests.”

The study – part of a broader “urban water planning” initiative – would test the effectiveness of a new device capable of  “wirelessly (transmitting) hotel guest water usage data to a central hotel accounting system.”

Wow … big brother in your hotel shower.

News of the program was uncovered by reporter Elizabeth Harrington of The Washington Free Beacon.  According to Harrington, the researchers’ goal is to get the new EPA program “adopted by all major hotels.”

Crazy …

Look, we’re all for people taking faster showers (thus using less water).  That’s good stewardship.  And we have no problems with hotels trying to “guilt” their guests into taking shorter showers (like they currently “guilt” guests into re-using their towels).

But a monitoring system?  One introduced at the behest of government?

Sheesh …

For those of you keeping score at home the average hotel shower lasts 8.2 minutes and uses 17.2 gallons of water.  The government wants to cut that time by one minute.

“…millions of gallons of potable water are wasted…”

Only if “wasted” means paid for and used differently than some EPA bureaucrat would like. Water is a renewable resource.

TBG bets the Hospitality Lobby wants the government to push this…

The EPA also announced that, in order to verify compliance, secret cameras would be installed in all hotel showers and monitored by a special presidential commission consisting of Joe Biden and Bill Clinton.

They already regulate how our shit goes down the toilet, so regulating showers is mild by comparison.

Too bad they can’t contain themselves to regulating my feces.

Flush twice, it’s a long way to D.C,

They’ll probably double my taxes if I flush twice, & tell me it’s for my own good.

Although it probably won’t be called a “tax”, until SCOTUS says it is.

They are the government and they are here to help.

Oh really? If hotels have never studied this, what makes you think that:

a – the water is wasted,

b – that it isn’t the laundry process that consumes (“wastes” in EPA parlance) the majority of water used by hotels (it is the most significant portion – the hotels already know this – hence the “planet hater” signs)

c – all of your regulation hasn’t done what it was designed to do – you have low flow shower heads (which suck), low flush volume commodes (which don’t suck enough) and silly “Place you towel on the floor is you’re a planet hater” rules and signage.

If ever you needed evidence of a gubamint agency having run amuck, this program is it. I’m planning to turn the shower on when I check in and turn it off when I check out from now on.

Bet ice machines use a lot of water. If that chick was in my shower I’d be getting a bucket of ice for the champagne.

Screw ice, I’d pour it on her and lick it off.

This proposal would create no permanent new jobs. I suggest we hire thousands of shower monitors. Why just hotels? Why not colleges too?

I’d sign up for the shower monitor position – in the women’s quad at USC

And no hot water after 7.2 minutes.

Tomorrow morning we want to see a head count of how many of you (guys or gals) pee in the shower —– CONFESS..!!

LOL – I can’t really confess, since I’m not much of a beer drinker, 3 maybe 4 and I’m asleep. Black and Tan, maybe a little more if there is seafood involved.

I am more worried about some pervert hotel/motel owner installing camera’s to “spy” on me than I am “Big Brother” – I imagine Big Brother would be so disappointed he’d move on ;)
