PALMETTO STATE STRUGGLES ON ANOTHER KEY ECONOMIC METRIC

|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. governor Nikki Haley likes to brag about the Palmetto State’s shrinking unemployment rate … but yet another measure of economic “vitality” is showing South Carolina moving in the wrong direction.

According to data compiled by Gallup, South Carolina had the nation’s eighth-lowest “P2P” – or “payroll to population” – rate last year.  For those of you keeping score at home, “P2P” refers to the percentage of a state’s adult population employed on a full-time basis (i.e. working a minimum of thirty hours a week).  In other words it excludes adults “who are self-employed, work fewer than 30 hours per week, who are unemployed or are out of the workforce.”

Ready for South Carolina’s number? 40.2 percent.

That’s right … six out of ten adults in South Carolina don’t have a full time job.

Ouch, ouch, ouch … OUCH.

This website has repeatedly pointed out how South Carolina’s unemployment rate (which currently stands at 6.5 percent) obscures a disproportionately large percentage of the working age population that’s not even part of the labor force.

What are we talking about?  Click HERE for more.  But the bottom line can be boiled down thusly: Haley has reduced the state’s unemployment rate by shrinking the size of the state’s workforce relative to its population.

And these embarrassing P2P numbers are the latest proof of that …

“The P2P rate provides a good reflection of a state’s economic vitality,” Gallup’s pollsters note.

And once again, South Carolina’s vitality is not looking so hot …

How to turn things around?  We’ve been screaming the solutions for years: Cut taxes, scale back government and expand academic freedom.

Haley doesn’t give a flying fuck about the working people in this state, as we speak she is making her final plans to finish what she started by outsourcing our private sector, state and local government jobs to India and other locations that pay to play (she despises state employees) and the idiot voters put her back in office to let it happen. OUR STATE PAYS ITS WORKERS THE LOWEST SALARIES IN THE NATION LOOK IT UP.

It’s the “free market” in action.

What are you? Some kind of “Socialist?”

As for Fits ,seeing as how he is a well known “free marketeer,” I don’t understand his problem with this.

You actually have less than zero understanding of what a “free market” is…that’s incredible.

Tax and spend liberal Haley doesn’t care about us, of course not, that is why she wants to jack up our gas taxes! I guess the working people are just going to have to suck it up because she decided not to tell them during her campaign that she planned on screwing every last one of them!

Part of your problem is that you seem to be looking to government, or Haley, to make you whole…

No matter what the media, or FITS, feeds their Dumb@$$#$, your lord-god government is NOT responsible to feed, clothe and house you…

Get off your LAZY @$$, and do it yourself…otherwise you will always be whining because you were let down by lying people promising you Utopia…The best that can happen is for Politicians to get the F*#k out the way…so you are free…

Democrats are LIARS… They’ve been talkin’ ’bout “How good it’s gone be” for decades…and all they do is make it worse…while their voters – like you – just become more ignorant, poorer, and more @$$-Backward…

Get a F*#king REAL Job then..When you went to work for government, you signed on to the idea that you would take what the taxpayers could afford…or whatever your politicians can score for your lazy @$$#$

When Obama has so F*#ked up the economy…everybody is starving. That’s YOUR fault for electing him…

..It takes a COLOSSAL Dumb@$$ – like you – to blame Haley…but that is typical of a government worker, or a liberal idiot…

South Carolina has become a haven for retirees which partially explains our low numbers. The census data shows that the percentage of residents 65 and older is higher in SC than the national average. Note that Florida has a lower number than SC which is not surprising given that it is the retiree capital of the US.

Never gonna happen all the republicans in sc who say obamacare is govt over reach
They say govt needs to let the free market work they say they want the govt out there lives … slam on the breaks when they look around and see its their job we want privatized next. Meens they would be held accountable to their employer next instead of laughing at the taxpayers who support them now as we struggle to make ends meet.

This article comes under the title of find some obscure statistic that South Carolina ranks poorly on and ignore the commonly accepted measurements. I have linked this several times before so I won’t bother again. Instead, I will link the latest Bureau of Economic Analysis data showing South Carolina having the highest personal income growth in the 12 state southeast region for the latest quarter..
http://www.bea.gov/newsreleases/regional/spi/sqpi_newsrelease.htm
FITS other favorite is to use outdated numbers, such as the worker participation rate.
FITSNEWS has not reported on South Carolina’s BLS employment report for the last two months. Why? Because it’s good news.

If you read the linked Gallup article you would find out that the worst two states on the list, had the highest 65+ population. According to the link below, South Carolina has the fourth fastest growing 65+ population. Most of these are retirees that are not a burden to our state.
