If we do not stop the spread of Ebola in Africa it will spread throughout the continent, and the world, including the US. The oceans will not protect us in a modern world. Left unchecked this will become a far greater threat than invasion by a foreign country or a terrorist attack. The nations of Africa do not have the resources to stop the disease. What’s more in a society of poor people, little or no taxes, and little or no government services they will not even try. They will adopt the same tactic as the Aristocracy during the plague. The rich will build walled compounds, shut the door and hope for the best, or leave the country and hope for the best.

You were making a good case until the last two sentences.

I haven’t found any evidence of this. There were walls built, but not exclusively for the rich or aristocracy. Since the plagues were mostly spread by fleas and rats, it would’ve been counter productive.
Isaac Newton’s initial great thinking was at his home estate (the one with the fabled apple tree), his having gone there as a student to avoid the plague in London. I had assumed that the university (Oxford?) had closed, but in any case it was clearly known to get out of town if you could. And the better-off could. Not the same as building walls, of course.

We fight the terrorists over there so we don’t have to fight them over here. Why not do the same with Ebola? As opposed to the former, that might actually work.
Can’t we weaponize Ebola and use it on ISIS? And maybe Putin?

Quarantine the soldiers and open the borders then bring Ebola patients into America. Democrats are 15 cent short of having a nickel!
In all fairness, I think we probably can better trust a doctor or nurse to self-monitor symptoms more carefully than troops.
