BUT PALMETTO STATE IS PREPARED IN CASE THERE IS …
By FITSNEWS || The national panic over the deadly West African Ebola virus appears to have subsided this week … which is a good thing.
We were getting kinda bored writing about it …
But amid the declining hysteria, there have been plenty of false alarms related to positive Ebola tests across the country … including rumors of positive tests here in South Carolina. In fact, we received a credible tip this week regarding one such rumor at a Palmetto State hospital.
Fortunately, the reports turned out to be false.
There have been no positive Ebola tests in South Carolina – nor have there (at this point) been any “blood draws” from patients demonstrating Ebola-like symptoms.
In other words, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC), the Palmetto State is “Ebola-free.”
For now …
First discovered in 1976, Ebola is a virological taxon spread through bodily fluids. After an incubation period ranging from two days to three weeks, Ebola victims begin experiencing nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea – at which point they are contagious. Eventually their kidneys and livers begin to shut down, a process accompanied by mass internal hemorrhaging.
There is no cure and no treatment for the disease – although some experimental medications have yielded positive results.
For those of you keeping score at home, since the beginning of the current Ebola outbreak in December 2013 there have been more than 12,000 confirmed cases worldwide resulting in at least 4,500 deaths – including four U.S. cases resulting in one death.
South Carolina’s response to Ebola is being managed by SCDHEC and its director Catherine Templeton. We’ve written a pair of stories on her efforts (HERE and HERE).

“Mission Accomplished!”
I take full credit.
I love the Ebola toilet in the back of that photo. How bad do you really need to go?
With those hazmat suits, Going… is not a possibility.
… just as the astro-nots did in their space suits (“The Right Stuff”?).
Ebola, Ebola, Bo-bola
Banana fana fo-bola
Fee Fi mo, Mola…
Ebola!

-1 credibility I suppose.
Sometimes I have to wonder what Will’s definition of “credible” is.
The one guy that died wasn’t American although he died here. So no Americans have died. It’s all hype and politisized paranoia.
No it’s not. It’s coming to get your kids. It’s being spread by all the illegals. I wouldn’t stop at Pedro’s South of Border, nor would I recommend eating at any Mexican places. My local Tea Party folks told me last night at Golden Corral – it’s a plot by Obama to kill all the white people.
But that’s what makes the pols world go round. It’s how they prove their “usefulness” to everyone. You see, they have conquered Ebola and all of us should be grateful to them.
I got a problem with a virus that turns your organs into liquid and the victim produces 3 gallons of diarrhea a day-and Obama wants to bring those infected here from Africa?
Yeah, on a helicopter.
And drop them off at your house too.
The guy was a naturalized citizen of the United States. Naturalization (or naturalisation) is the legal act or process by which a non-citizen in a country may acquire citizenship or nationality of that country. So technically he was an American through naturalization.
Now he’s a naturalized citizen of the beyond. Dual citizenship, if you like.
Fear and loathing is driving this election cycle (again).
It’s coming. It’s only a matter of time. That’s why I’m buildling a concrete block addition to my shelter in the backyard and heading off to pick up some more ammo. When the outbreak hits North Charleston and Goose Creek I’ll be ready. Try and step across the line with your Ebola-ized kids, blam!!! The solution is easy. Let’s those sick die, and those suspected, isolate them and burn them all. That’s the true conservative solution.
Someone’s ready for the zombie apocalypse.
Beware sinners! The time of redemption is upon us. Jesus has sent the scurge across the global as Moses did in Egypt. Seek the safety of the Lord.
It’s just a matter of time till Obola blames Bush.
You mean the way Repugnuts have blamed Obama. Fortunately Its just a matter of time before the Fox News demographic dies out.
I don’t think I would be talking , the way MSNBC is tanking. Looks like FNC will burry them. Good riddance to bad rubbish.
You, know you repeatedly state in your articles. “There is no cure and no treatment for the disease.” You do realize that statement is stupid. While at this time there is no known drug capable of killing the Ebola virus without also killing the patient, of course there is a course of treatment and of course there is a potential cure. Otherwise no one would have been cured. The treatment at this time is aggressive intervention to keep the infected person alive long enough for his or her body to produce antibodies to fight the virus.
Without medical intervention, most people infected with the Ebola virus will not live long enough for their bodies to develop antibodies to fight the virus. However, it appears from the US experience that if we catch the virus early enough, and begin medical intervention early enough, we can keep most infected people alive long enough for their bodies to successfully fight the virus (this most likely does not apply to people with compromised immune systems) In fact, thus far, 100% of the health care workers who contracted the virus in the US have been cured.
Sure he realizes it’s a stupid statement.
The kooks here eat that stuff up though.
Sometimes, you gotta just play to your audience.

If the right keeps screaming that the sky is falling, will it actually happen? NO! Fear and loathing in these (not so) United States.
Just so we’re clear, NOBODY PANIC. Whew, I feel so much smarter than other people by saying that.
Smarter than the people panicking about FEMA death camps, at least.
No panic there: Those camps are going to come in handy when the sick “illegal” kids arrive in your state. …
( http://www.exohuman.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/Fema-Camps.jpg … yes, there are some in South Carolina. Investigative reporter needed.)
Who doesn’t like to camp now and then?
Exactly! And one should note that those g’ment facilities have a lot of open camping ground … between the barbed wire fences.
I’m hearing all kinds of rumors abt a positive test at baptist in Columbia. Probably just a lot of nonsense.
MUSC announced they will pay staff caring for these patients more. I am actually worried MUSC is clammering for one of these in SC. Their response and management will make the Texas response look perfect.
Keep it stoked Ebola truthers. If you try hard enough, maybe you’ll get it.After all,man never walked on the moon..
These paranoia scares usually go away, once it’s over.People who buy into conspiracy theories,do so,because it gives them a sense of control and power over something that’s beyond their control.
