AND FAST …

Remember that column our founding editor wrote awhile back?  You know … the piece about people finally waking up to the reality of where this country is headed?

Looks like the mass illumination is picking up speed …

According to the results of a new NBC News / Wall Street Journal poll, more than 70 percent of the country believes America is headed down the wrong track.  Meanwhile 80 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with the country’s political system – which makes us wonder what the other 20 percent are smoking.

U.S. President Barack Obama?  His approval rating has plunged to 40 percent in the survey – a new all-time low in this poll.  And the ever-unpopular U.S. Congress gets an anemic 14 percent approval rating.

Oh, and here’s the kicker:  A whopping 64 percent of respondents told pollsters the economic recession is still impacting them.

Which again … makes you wonder what the other 36 percent (well, minus the government-subsidized “1 percent“) are smoking.

Other nuggets from the survey?

  • 40 percent say someone in their household lost a job in the past five years;
  • 27 percent say they have more than $5,000 in student-loan debt for either themselves or their children;
  • 20 percent have more than $2,000 in credit card debt they are unable to pay off month to month;
  • and 17 percent say they have a parent or a child over 21 years old living with them for financial or health reasons.

Ouch …

The NBC/ WSJ survey was conducted from July 30 – August 3, 2014.  It surveyed 1,000 American adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percent.

This great country is in sum total led by absolutely the worst leadership at every level, be it the federal, state or local. What I have seen over the past decade is a complete erosion of trust in the very offices that are supposed to be the symbol of trust and a model of the best and an example to the world. Perception of our military is low in the world, federal agencies and its workers are no more trustworthy than street hawkers, and every level of government is sucking up resources from common man and handing it over to the 1% through every imaginable excuse of stimulus, job creation, green technology, revitalization..you name it. It seems that we are being led by idiots whose names keep changing in election cycles..but idiots nonetheless. At the top of this heap is President Obama. Don’t know if he can change anything at all, given the systemic rot. A great country, with greatest people ever, in bondage and in desperate times. We need a Moses.

Resign Mr President and spare your tranny boyfriend the scorn he/she will face in the next 30 months of your Presidency.

You can’t get into positions of power without cozying up to the 1% so it’s no surprise this is happening. They keep around a few mavericks just to make it look like the system isn’t rigged, but these people are for show. Occasionally the system lets you peek into its inner workings. One instance was when the Democrats had complete control of the system after Obama’s election. Democratic senators took turns reneging on years of campaign promises to make sure no substantial reform took place that might impinge on the interests of wealthy campaign donors.

If the Republicans ever have control, you’ll see the same thing. Politicians who campaigned to end the Import Export Bank, for instance, will flip so Boeing and the like don’t have their profits hurt. They won’t all flip, just enough to make sure nothing changes and the game stays rigged.

Da scent is rising.
It’s a curious smell.
Who knows whose noses
Are surmising
Whether its malodorous sulphur
Emanates from hell
Or a thorny tangle of rotten roses?
If you ask me,
It’s G. (good) O. (old) Pee,
As a Republican kleptocracy
Waters democracy
From its perch on the statehouse porch.
Citizen, seize your pitchfork;
Voter, light a torch!

Politicans are rabbits.
Bad habits
Help them breed.

zzzzzzzzz……same old gloom and doom reporting. Meanwhile, here in the business world, factories I deal with can’t produce fast enough for the orders they have. Local suppliers and laborers are loaded with work. Are we making the money we’d like? hell no. But it is wayyyyy better than the past few years. Is Obama a politician? you bet he is. Guess what, he can’t get re-elected. So quit bitching about now and start planning for the next election. Give us someone worth a shit to vote for. But for now, please shut up that everything is lousy ’cause it just ain’t true.

Just took a shot trip around Irmo and the surrounding area. Saw several developments that must have had 20 to 30 houses there weren’t there a month ago. Looks like Mungo is opening a new development across the road from the new Springhill High and the under construction middle school. Times can’t be as bad as Fits would have us to believe.

Same here in the Upstate
Especailly western Spartanburg County,part of northern Spbg county and the perennial east side of Greenville County.
Shit load of houses going up in Duncan/Lyman area as well.
And like Robert posted, if you are in the trades, you will have several offers to choose from. Its hard to get a contract electrician or plumber to service several of my clients. They are all booked up.
It sometimes takes 2-3 days before they can be on site due to the work load.

Trades jobs in your area, you can’t make it on $13.00 an hour.
Check your employment ads. Contractors are wanting very cheap illegal alien labor. And they are getting it from North Carolina.

That ain’t so.
I’m talking caucasian ‘good ol boys” who are up to their ass in work at $20 – 25/hour plus a shit load of OT.
Most of these guys don’t even bother about employment ads – they don’t need to.
They just go to greener pastures via word of mouth.

I’m not talking about laborers (where you will find non-USA types), I’m talking about journeyman positions.

School construction … pfftt. Population growth of people moving here looking for jobs. Then, Lexington school buildings are also old and need replacing. Do some research before you spout off making a total idiot of yourself.
