S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley has a curious definition of accountability in government …
What is it? To appoint incompetent people to key government posts, watch them fail and then ride to the rescue during an election year.
Haley – who has seen at least three of her cabinet directors resign in disgrace – told The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier this week that she will take a “hands on” approach to the S.C. Department of Social Services (SCDSS), arguably the worst-managed of all her agencies.
“I’m very hands on,” Haley told the paper. “When we had problems with DOT, I went into DOT. We had problems with Revenue. I went into Revenue. Now we’re going into DSS.”
Huh?
Last time we checked, Haley was elected in November 2010. Meaning the problems at all of these agencies occurred under her watch – at the hands of her appointees.
Also when it comes to SCDSS, the extent of Haley’s “involvement” has been to keep a totally incompetent official at her post.
“Haley may want to pretend like she hasn’t been governor for the past four years, but the fact is that the biggest disasters have not only occurred under her watch, but because of her failures of leadership,” S.C. Democratic Party spokeswoman Kristin Sosanie said.

You truly need to be educated. People on section eight have income. Section eight is an income base program. They are Veterans. ..social security recipient who worked all there life now needing assistance. Many on EBT have jobs but the hours received are part time hrs 15 to 20 pay rate per hr. $7.25 that about $150.00 weekly.. Medicaid is also a income base program so there are very far people on government assist without income. Do you really believe that the workers at most of the plants that have close and are planning to close their doors deserve assistance after making $800.- $1200 Weekly income deserve assistance after having to wait 6 to 12 week for unemployment than to learn t amount will only be $326 or less a month. They need help and may not be able to afford the home they now reside in with their family. Do your research before judging someone on governmental assistance. Free phone came along before Obama you could receive home phone assistance under The Bush Adm.
A couple of questions– In reference to Sec 8 housing– Who owns the house and is actually getting the $$$? EBT cards– Who sells the groceries? Medicaid– Who get the few bucks for seeing the sick? The “mess” that we ought to be talking about is Haley’s denial of the Medicaid expansion under the ACA that has left an estimated 225,000 poor South Carolinians without health coverage – and it is all about politics – she does not care anything about the lives that she is ruining. She is grossly incompetent and totally self-serving and will probably be re-elected.

The affidavits were written a few years ago.
One of my concerns is, in 2007 a number of people around the Capitol, told me Our Lexington Representative Nikki Haley was involved in an affair with Will Folks! he worked for Sanford at the time.
Now, Haley was a second term 3 yea, run of the mill Representative, not a blip on the radar screen. No one, no one thought she would be anything more and some would not vote for her 3rd term. Now, why would people, who had NOTHING to gain or loose say this? Answer, it was true.
If, someone will cheat and lie to their family and children, they will cheat and lie to the voter! Lying and cheating is a character flaw, a personality disorder, placing self and individual wants and desires above all else, even family!

Interestingly, if the State takes the expansion money, it is a large bump to the state and local economy – hospitals, doctors, not to mention productivity increases due to healthier citizens – and smaller bills for long term problems when people can afford to address them earier. Right now, tax money is flowing out to pay for Obamacare, but not flowing back in. The myth that the State contribution will bankrupt us is false – we take federal money with much larger state participation requirements than 10%, and it doesn’t bankrupt anyone or cause tax increases. Finally, the net benefit in increased tax revenues caused by the influx of more federal money than is going out, that then gets spent in SC, more than offsets the 10% contribution. This is simply a knee jerk overreaction to hating Obamacare that cuts off SC’s nose to spider face. Hey I hate tyeh idea of Obamacare too, but not enough to be stupid about it.
John Kasich took the expansion in his state for those very reasons. And from what I’ve seen and read, his state continues to improve and so far, has not suffered from the Medicaid expansion.

Article in The State quotes Gov. Haley as saying it is the DSS County Office in Richland that are responsible for the problem @ DSS. Bad enough that the DSS State Director, Deputy Directors, and Regional Directors blame the County Offices and County Staff for all the problems @ DSS (when in reality they created this mess with poor management and zero child welfare experience), but now the Gov. is blaming the County Offices also. I guess the apple (Koller) did not fall far from the tree (Gov. Haley). I would laugh, but unfortunately children are families are suffering. Privatizing CPS Investigations is the root of this current mess @ DSS along with Koller and her managers, but I guess reducing the size of State Gov’t means more to Koller and certainly to Gov. Haley.
Please don’t leave out the abysmal USC Center of Child and Family Services certification training that is sending new workers back to the counties ‘confused’ and made it very UNclear that they consult with supervisors every step of the way and NEVER make their own decisions.

The ethics commission didn’t answer to her failure to respond, but instead referred me to the Adjutant General. He denied having knowledge of my notifying him. When contacted by phone, he stated that he would look into the matter and get back in touch with me. What a bunch of liars. Would you like the facts, FITS? Would you like to see and hear the proof of a “hands off” approach?
