GOVERNOR’S ALLY KATRINA SHEALY JOINS CHORUS OF OPPOSITION TO EMBATTLED SOCIAL SERVICES DIRECTOR LILLIAN KOLLER

S.C. Senator Katrina Shealy (R-Lexington) – one of Gov. Nikki Haley’s staunchest allies – has a message for her erstwhile friend.

That message? Fire embattled welfare czarina Lillian Koller.

During an appearance on Charleston, S.C. radio (WTMA 1250 AM) Wednesday morning, Shealy was asked point blank by host Tara Servatius whether she believed it was time for Koller to be relieved of her duties as director of the S.C. Department of Social Services (SCDSS).

“I think so,” Shealy responded. “I have put it off and waited and waited and waited and said it was the governor’s decision.”

Not anymore.

Here’s the audio of Shealy responding to Servatius’ question about whether Koller should be fired …

(Clip via WTMA)

Shealy added that leadership “starts at the top” and that “the job’s not getting done” at SCDSS.

That’s an understatement.

Koller has botched the implementation of the state’s child support enforcement database. She’s made a mess of a food stamp waiver touted by Haley in her so-called “war on fat.” She’s made questionable hires, questionable consultant payments and allegedly cooked the books at her agency’s “welfare to work” program (and its food stamp system).

Oh … and all that’s before we get to the tragic stories of blood on the agency’s hands.

Despite all of this, Haley has continued to stand by Koller – a political appointee. Not only that, she’s invented allegations against lawmakers like Shealy who had the audacity to challenge Koller’s abysmal record.

FITS has already called on Haley to fire Koller. So has our liberal columnist (and associate opinion editor) Amy Lazenby.

“By continuing to stand behind an appointee who has exhibited such poor judgement and a clear failure of leadership at the expense of one of the state’s most vulnerable populations – abused and neglected children – Governor Haley is allowing her own judgement and leadership ability to be called into question,” Lazenby wrote last week.

We agree.

Everyone recognizes Koller should be fired – expect the one person who can fire her.

Because it should really be called the “Me” party. Tea Party folks are all for cuts, so long as said cuts only affect others.

Lourie is a democrat, so there is never any accountability….and he’s too busy getting his incompetent relatives high-paying jobs in failed liberal systems…

He’s like FITS was when he worked for Sanford. He rides the gravy train…then when the ride is over, and we’re robbed blind, FITS tries to invoke his will on our lives…never acknowledging his own failure…

Yes, I think Lillian Koller needs to go for her imcompetence and malfeasance but for crying out loud, how the hell does Lillian McBride have her job back – with much higher pay??? What say you, Sen. Lourie? How do you justify that??

Amazing that Gov. Haley continues to put Politics ahead of children and families in SC. Koller and her managers @ DSS need to go and everyone sees this including the Gov., but again she is too worried about the upcoming election to do what is right. BTW, I also read where Koller claims to have cleaned up over 25,000 open CPS investigations since becoming Director. Another manipulation of the numbers. Truth is, 99% of those open CPS investigations were completed. The County Office only had to go into the computer system to put in the completed date of the investigation. For Koller to claim that she is responsible for getting those investigations completed is an outright lie! Koller and her managers continue to tell lie after lie and with the Gov.’s blessing. When the Feds go public with their findings against Koller and DSS, I bet Gov. Haley will wish she would have taken action months ago. Hats off to Senators Lourie and Shealy for taking the initiative to do what is right for children and families in SC!

Greedy Liberals devised the Child Welfare system years ago..that’s not Haley’s fault…

Greedy Liberals wanted a system so people in the Community could get paid for taking in children their neighbors’ (parent) would not take care of…

Kind of hard to blame Haley for another failed liberal program…

20 years ago, Newt wanted to re-establish the orphanage program..but liberal welfare industry honchoes $#!t all over themselves, because it blocked them from funds, that the truly caring administrators in family-based homes would need to run them…

Can’t let nothing get in the way of Liberal GREED..you know that…

Tony Keck, brought in from Louisiana with a good track record in that field, has done an admirable job reducing waste, fraud and abuse at DHEC, including the $500 million annual Medicaid fraud he inherited.

Gov. Haley’s choice of Lillian Koller, on the other hand, seems one hundred percent political, and lives have been lost. DHHS audits are done on a county-by-county basis; average 40 pages in length; and are read, I believe, by nobody. DHHS is a ship without a rudder, upon the rocks.

Another reason to vote against Haley this year.

Haley will never remove her because Haley will never admit she is wrong. All of Haleys cabinet positions are terrible unless you happened to be a retired general like the director at DMV. He helped Haleys husband advance in the military….he gets funds to hire staff and pays them a fair wage…the director at DPS gets nothing the troopers there are leaving in droves over pay….DOT is broke and everyone knows the roads are terrible..until Republicans wake up and realize Haley is a failure and stop endorsing her nothing will change. Haley will continue her reign using out if state money to higher office.
