Chris Christie’s “Double Down”

IS IT “GAME, SET, MATCH” FOR THIS ROTUND “REPUBLICAN IN NAME ONLY?”

Did Garden State Gov. Chris Christie have a priori knowledge of his administration’s plans to create traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey – home of a Democratic mayor who refused to support his 2013 reelection bid?

Even worse … could the decision to shut down access ramps to the George Washington Bridge (thus creating the traffic jams) have actually been Christie’s idea?

The candidate – and make no mistake, Christie is running for president in 2016 as the new “establishment” Republican – swears the answer is no. In a statement issued the day the scandal broke, he claimed he had no prior knowledge of the lane closings.

“What I’ve seen today for the first time is unacceptable,” he said. “I am outraged and deeply saddened to learn that not only was I misled by a member of my staff, but this completely inappropriate and unsanctioned conduct was made without my knowledge. One thing is clear: this type of behavior is unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it because the people of New Jersey deserve better. This behavior is not representative of me or my Administration in any way, and people will be held responsible for their actions.”

Christie reiterated his “no prior knowledge” claim during a two-hour press conference the following day. He also fired his deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly – who according to emails helped orchestrate the lane closings with David Wildstein, one of Christie’s high school friends and his appointee to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

And as we predicted the GOP establishment – including S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley – rushed to Christie’s defense, saying he showed “leadership” in responding to the scandal.

Did they jump too soon, though?

Last week, attorneys for Wildstein – who previously resigned over the lane closing debacle – dropped a bombshell when they announced evidence existed linking Christie directly to the scandal.

“Evidence exists as well tying Mr. Christie to having knowledge of the lane closures, during the period when the lanes were closed, contrary to what the Governor stated publicly in a two-hour press conference,” the letter stated.

Christie – as expected – doubled down on his denial, with his office issuing a statement reiterating that he “had absolutely no prior knowledge of the lane closures.”

He also sent out a 700-word email blasting the integrity of his former friend, saying “bottom line—David Wildstein will do and say anything to save David Wildstein.”

So that’s where we are at with this scandal … which has already done major damage to  Christie’s presidential aspirations.

Will it prove fatal? That depends …

If Wildstein’s attorneys are correct and evidence exists showing Christie knew about the lane closings, you can pretty much stick a fork in his presidential bid. If no such evidence emerges, though, Christie could easily bounce back from the scandal. After all, the GOP establishment clearly loves him … and voters’ attention spans clearly aren’t sufficiently long to hold “Bridge-gate” against him, assuming of course the scandal remains (relatively) contained.

If Christie does go down, though, you’d better believe another fiscally liberal “Republican” will emerge to take his place.

For a Conservative this is great. The media will slowly slay this , crowd playing moderate Dumb@$$ slob.

In the meantime: He represents the shattered state of the democrat party, that has whored itself to prop up a nasty and corrupt king, to the disgust of the American people.

Christie has taken NJ from the dems…and he is sinking the moderate (FITS wing) of the GOP….

One fat B@$*ard killing the enemies of America…Thank You, Chrissy….you are serving us well.

Christie has taken NJ from the dems…

I’d make the argument that Jon Corzine took NJ from the Democrats by being quite the slimeball crook. Once Christie’s bid is up, I doubt Republicans will still hold the governorship. Just my two cents.

Being a slimeball crook is nothing new in NJ. Remember “The Laut” scandal of the late 90s They go from one democrat criminal to the next…Therefore I think Chrissy’s re-elect as an R is significant.

If he would have had a Liberal-Tarian, 3rd Party opponent, and the dem, to contest he may have had a hard time getting elected again…

As it is: The democrats will be putting FITS-type Liberal-Tarians (see Va.) in Every race they can. Trying to Skim off enough would-be R votes is their only shot, since Obama has so damaged the D brand.

If Christie flames out & Huntsman, or somebody somewhere near right/center, can’t get nominated; let me introduce you to the new President Clinton.

christie’s strategy is hopeless. he’s now saying he had no PRIOR knowledge, BEFORE the lane closures. but nobody has suggested that. the suggestion is that he knew about it months ago, which he has denied up until his story changed.

Aside from Christie’s inability to keep his megalomania from public view,(which the Clinton’s have been able to do very well for the most part)-the voting public/imbeciles that will ultimately determine who gets their turn at the seat of power will NEVER vote a fat man into office(currently).

There’s “white man’s guilt” that put Obama into office and a similar guilt that will put Hillary into office…but there doesn’t seem to be enough backlash/guilt involved with discrimination towards fat people to suggest it’s a strong enough voting block(yet) despite the fact that 30% or so of the voting idiots in the US voting demographic are morbidly obese.

From that perspective, I believe Mencken to be wrong in his assessment that “On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

While Bush the Dumber might qualify, the crack smoking Choom gang member appears to be a little smarter…so maybe we’ve reached an equilibrium on intelligence.

The mostly retarded electorate will vote on combination of their perceived interests and a mostly ridiculous set of emotional projections….and fat people have more minuses than pluses at this point in the circus act.

Not only is Christie in big trouble in New Jersey, he may be in big trouble in the afterlife. According to 88 year old blogger Lester Aldrich, Christie has committed the 7 Deadly Sins:

One would think Christie is too smart to speak in absolutes where there is a risk that documentary evidence exists to contradict him. But consider John Edwards, whose hubris was such he thought he could deny marital infidelity while living, breathing, DNA evidence to the contrary was crawling around.
It takes a big ego to think you’re the best choice to lead the free world.

I left Jersey for SC to escape their political degeneracy, and even at its worst SC government is far better (and vastly less greedy!) than that in Trenton.
Christie doesn’t protect Second Amendment rights worth a damn and therefore doesn’t need to be in the Oval Office.

Christie just supported the auto dealer lobby against Tesla. So much for the “free market” and YOUR right to buy products from whoever you choose.
