Chris Christie: Early 2016 Frontrunner

Establishment Republicans are having trouble containing their excitement this week. How come? Their candidate of choice – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie – is polling well in early voting states like Iowa and South Carolina.

And while the race is obviously a long, long way off, the buzz that’s generating behind this fatter version of Mitt Romney (and older version of John McCain) is unmistakeable … which could leading to Christie being anointed as the standard bearer for status quo Republicans heading into the 2016 election.

Anyway … the poll …

According to a survey of 390 likely Iowa GOP Caucus voters conducted on November 23-24 by Harper Polling, Christie is drawing 17 percent support – narrowly ahead of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas (16 percent), U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky (13 percent) and former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania (11 percent).

Wait … Santorum?

Sheesh … amazing the GOP is still kicking that windbag around.

Others receiving support included U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (9 percent), Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin (7 percent), U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida (6 percent) and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana (3 percent).

Seventeen percent of respondents were “not sure.”

Establishment Republicans were also pleased to see Christie as the only “Republican” leading Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head matchup among Iowa voters.

Ah, the “myth of electability” is back!

According to the poll’s survey of 935 likely Iowa voters, Christie leads Clinton by a 43.3 percent to 38.1 percent margin. Conversely, Clinton leads Cruz (47.3 to 40.4 percent) and Paul (46.8 to 41 percent).

What do these numbers mean?

Again, with the first round of voting more than two years away it’s important to take all 2016 polling with an ocean of salt. But early popular support is critical when it comes to luring establishment backing – which in turn is critical to maintaining popular support. A vicious cycle, no?

Anyway … at this point Christie appears to be the clear choice of the GOP establishment, with Cruz and Paul battling over the pro-free market, pro-liberty wing of the GOP.

Get ready for eight years of the pantsuit bitch.

The Republican party is already preparing a path for her arrival.

Exactly. She’ll steam roller this fat bastard. He encapsulates many qualities that women, speaking in generalities, abhor.

Really, it’s predestined in most cases regardless of who the GOP puts up(just especially so with fat bastard).

Independent white Americans had to relieve themselves of “whitey’s guilt” by voting for the half black Alfred E. Neuman, next is having a women for President to take the pressure off the gender inequality bullshit.

I eagerly await the moment a retarded person runs for office myself.

If she runs, she’ll steam roller ANY GOP or TP (toilet paper) candidate. She’ll make a great president.

Can I count on you to run for office eventually as well to fulfill my ultimate desire?

She certainly has a lot of great friends in powerful places so her agenda will go through without much oversight because the Clintons are brilliant right (the surplus and all that…)? They pee gold. What ever level of cover-up required. Her opposition: persona non grata. All the qualities I want in a transparent presidency!

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” — Mencken

Not getting the “older than John McCain” part. Christie is 51.

Well if you were going to compare them by measures of health, I’m sure that Christie would be physically measuring at least the same in age based on certain health indicating criteria.

Christie is going to be the likely winner in the 2016 primary. Old Frothy will lose in a heartbeat, thank God. Rand stands a chance, but I’m not sure if he could pull enough moderates with him. Cruz is even worse in that regard.

As for Hillary, I can only hope someone, anyone better, even marginally better, wins against her.

Christie may be the frontrunner, but don’t worry. He tires easily and will likely fade.

Hubble Telescope Sends Back Annoying Stream of Selfies

HOUSTON (The Borowitz Report) — NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, whose mission is to capture images that help scientists better understand the universe, has instead spent much of the past several weeks transmitting an annoying series of self-portraits, NASA scientists confirmed today.

NASA officials were alarmed in mid-November, when, ignoring their orders, the Hubble extended a long robotic arm in order to get a good vantage point on itself and began snapping thousands of blurry, low-resolution photos.

Despite NASA’s repeated instructions to the Hubble to look for evidence of water on distant planets, the telescope continued to produce more and more self-portraits, posting them to its Instagram and Twitter accounts along with the hashtag #pimpin.

Harland Dorrinson, operations manager at the Johnson Space Center, said that NASA had monitored the images sent back by the Hubble since 1990, but that if it persists in sending back nothing but self-portraits, NASA would “probably stop following it.”

“The Hubble might think it looks good in these pictures, but they’re of no interest to anyone but the Hubble itself,” he said.

WTF December 4, 2013 at 8:38 pm

There’s an old sea
story about a ship’s Captain
Who inspected his sailors, and
afterward told
The first mate that his men smelled bad…

The Captain
suggested perhaps it would
Help if the sailors would change
underwear
Occasionally.
The first mate responded,
“Aye, aye sir,
I’ll see to it immediately!”

The first mate went straight to the sailors
Berth deck
and announced, “The Captain
Thinks you guys smell bad and
wants you
To change your underwear.”

He continued,
“Pittman, you change with Jones,
McCarthy, you change with Witkowski,
And Brown, you
change with Schultz.”

THE MORAL OF THE STORY:
Someone may come along and promise
“Change”,
But don’t count on things smelling any better.

Maybe we can get Biden to show up for some of his fund-raisers.

Christie no doubt would be a strong national candidate, capable of beating Hillary. He could win the nomination just by splitting the votes between Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, Rick Sanatorium, Rick Perry and Paul Ryan.
