U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) will huddle with a group of South Carolina pastors at a private meeting in Columbia, S.C. next month, the website Politico is reporting.
Cruz – who was praised by this website (but vilified by the national press) during the so-called “government shutdown” – will visit the Palmetto State on November 4.
“The event, slated to occur at a hotel in Columbia, S.C., is hosted by the South Carolina Renewal Project, a Christian organization,” the website reports. “Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) is also listed as a speaker on an invitation for the event.”
Cruz isn’t the only likely Republican presidential candidate paying a visit to early-voting South Carolina in November. U.S. Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) will address an invitation-only gathering of establishment “Republicans” in Charleston, S.C. on November 11 as part of his ongoing effort to court these “centrist” opinion leaders.

SC home to the teabaggers…
Sadly very true
Evangelicals are apparently beside themselves over losing the culture wars. According to the memo, they “believe their towns, communities and schools are suffering from a deep ‘culture rot’ that has invaded from the outside.” Their main focus is homosexuality, but they’re also concerned about the decline of small homogeneous towns.
But the Tea Party folks couldn’t care less about social issues.
Gay marriage. Abortion. “Who cares?” said one Tea Partier from Roanoke.
Another Roanoke Tea Partier agreed: “I think it’s not important.”
A Tea Party man from Raleigh who said he didn’t support same-sex marriage also said it wasn’t the job of the government to intervene.
“I personally don’t agree with gay marriage, but I don’t think the government should say who can get married and who can’t. It’s not their business,” he said.
Similar to the Tea Party faction, Republican moderates also showed apprehension about the Evangelical agenda.
“I can’t sell my kids on this party. I agree with … some of their positions. But the stupid things … for instance, the rape crap they were saying … I can’t sell them on my party,” said a Colorado man.
“I just tend to be a little bit more moderate on social issues. However I’m a pretty staunch fiscal conservative,” said a Raleigh woman, “so it’s kind of like, at least among my peers, there’s a change in kind of the conservative group. But it doesn’t necessarily seem like the Republican Party is changing with it.”
In other words they don’t know what the fuck a “real Republican” is these days, and are not likely to get it figured out any time soon.
The “establishment Republicans” represent smokescreens for the rich. The “tea party” represent the radio audience of Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin – the loyal believers in sasquach, the greys, UFOs, the paranormal and gummit conspiracies to seize their guns and force book learnin’ on em.
When churches get political like that, I think they should pay taxes.
They should pay taxes anyway.
Why is it private? What are they trying to cover up?
Will Jesus tell Cruz not to run? Doubtful.
OK birthers, get your asses out of those holes you live in and start chewing Cruz into tiny little pieces you can flush down the toilet….Oh wait, he’s white and this is SC,stay in your hole.
Oh come on Ted! Don’t start pandering to this regressive bunch who are butthurt because not everyone thinks as they do, says what they say, or does what they do.
They remind me of a slightly more civilized version of the Muslims.
I wonder if they will anoint his Kingship…
I can just imagine how a ‘real republican’ like,Barry Goldwater or Richard Nixon would feel about this crap.Goldwater saw this coming, and fought it.
Ted Cruz and evangelicals? It’s unconstitutional. This sort of thing should never happen in America, and is why this country exists, but people like ,Cruz are doing everything they can ,to undermine what once was…
Cruz’s father said today that Obama should go back to Kenya.
Well, maybe he should go back to Cuba and his son to Canada.
Neither one was born in the USA.
OBAMA WAS BORN IN HAWAII, which at last check is inside the United States of America!
Cruz learned his racist views from his father.
They deserve each other.
